Possible to install two 6.5” sundown subs behind back seats?

I’m interested in installing two 6.5” u series sundown subwoofers behind the rear seats of my 2016 Tacoma double cab. I’m not sure where to look for a box that would work if I remove the back storage panels and would still allow the speakers to not slap the plastic on the back of the seats. I would really like to avoid modifying the plastic on the back of the seats. Any opinions or experiences would be greatly appreciated!

 

There are a few dual and triple 6.5 inch sub boxes for these trucks. They generally run them down firing so you wont have to worry about the sub hitting the back of the seat.

But just google tacoma 6.5 inch subwoofer and you will get a few hits.

 

I only found 1 brand that would fit the depth of my subwoofer because like you said they are downfiring. I emailed them and they won’t make me a box with two speakers “for performance reasons”. I talked to a local AV company and they said it would be minimum $700. I did a post on couple posts on Reddit and a couple people gave me links to programs and websites I can use to design a subwoofer box with the slope of my back seat… It just doesn’t make sense to spend at bare minimum $700 on a box when I feel like I could possible make one myself for under $300 in material.

 

You can always make your own, I built my own for over 25 years. Just measure twice and cut once.

 

I’m found some blurry blueprints that someone posted on Tacoma world 9 years ago and am trying to roughly follow them. I just have never built a speaker box before so I have to figure out how to get it laid out and measure and to make sure it ported properly and has the correct volume inside the box

 

I built the ported box with six CT sounds 6.5 mesos behind the rear seat of my 2014 d cab. And while it sounded good there just wasn't enough airspace for all six ported. So I took it out and I built one with four and the remaining two up the middle in the center console. There's about 7.5" -8" of usable space from the wall to the back of the seat at the bottom. But you have to take the plastic off the back of the seats. So as long as you fire those subs down you can fit them
