This doesn't sound right to me. I have never seen an automatic transmission act this way unless something was wrong with it. Mine doesn't do this. I also do not think it has anything to do with the security system as stated above. When you shift from park or reverse into drive it should not effect the responsiveness of the throttle.

On the second week after I purchased my 2012 TRD Sport V6. Yhe transmission starting slipping when going from drive to reverse and even driving. The next day all was fine. Dealer said there was no code so they couldn't do anything. Now at 9,000 miles and it has never repeated the slipping.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Not on me anymore (when possible) Bill, I really feel for the honest Guys and Gals out there, I really do but I've been taken to the cleaners WAY too many times by crooks and now it seems they are coming on strong in the Toyota shops now that they've left the GM shops.

Here's a little fun fact. Took my truck in to see about the leaf spring tsb. I pulled a connector from under the seat ( yellow connector visible as you enter truck) to light the AIRBAG light. I was told it was not covered under warranty and the price for a NEW wiring harness (just the harness) was 989.00 plus install.

Anyway, truck not covered for tsb. Left dealership, plugged harness back in.

Why did you unplug the harness for the seat air bag when you went in for the leaf spring TSB?? Trying to scam the dealer?

My only issue with the little connector trick is that you took a tech away from the chance of another job for your game. I have had that done to me before by not only an individual, but by a local news agency looking for scam shops. I had no problem what so ever in giving the news reporter an ear full letting him know that by my working on his little trick (that I found in about 30 minutes) that I lost out on a good paying job that would have put food on the table.
I figure if you have ANY suspect about a shop, just don't go. Find another shop somewhere.

Oh by the way, our dealer actually did end up charging the news company a diagnostic fee, which they did finally pay, but not without arguing about it. My entire shop is based on my honesty and integrity. I admit I get my feathers ruffled easily at times when it comes to this. My apologies if I went over the top in my comments.

So ok, we've determined that some trucks do this and some dont...Lets see if we can figure out some connection to the lag...I started thinking it might have something to do with the Transmission TSB for the autos...Mine is a 2010 and I definitely have the lag. Of the trucks out there WITHOUT the lag, how many of you guys have had the transmission recalibration TSB done with the revised 1-2 shift program ( along with the classy dealer gas pedal hacksaw chop)? Also, if you have the lag, how often does it happen?

Torque Converter not engaging? If the TCC were bad it usually fails closed causing the truck to stall when it comes to a stop, but worth looking at I suppose.

I did find this over on the 4-runner forum...

interesting...which forum did you find that in? I wonder if they have similar lag issues. 1.2 seconds sounds reasonable, and what I sometimes experience and am fine with. There's gotta be something else going on thats causing the longer delay. Have any of you guys that are experiencing the delay checked your transmission fluid level?

Just checking to see if they would see the connector hanging in front of their face. So I guess it's just easier to screw the customer and replace the whole harness. I'm glad your're an upstanding Guy, Bill. I've been screwed over enough by Crooks and wanted to see if they would notice the connector hanging out on the floor mat. No, they didn't. I just wanted to know what I'm dealing with. Sorry to offend anyone. I understand your point, Bill.

Information is incorrect. Typically the newer (post 2000) vehicles when they fail will fail with the TCC off, not on. Not saying that a bad TCC system won't cause this, but if it fails, the internal springs push the clutch OFF, not on. Good info to add as far as something to look at.

Thank you sir. point taken and appreciated.

These transmission are sensitive to low fluid levels. Sometimes they would shift late or shift rough if the fluid level is not right.

Guess I need to get the level checked. Anyone with this issue find it resolved after adding fluid?

You gonna add fluid or check level?
I dont have your problem on my pickup. But I know Toyota trucks tend to have weird issues when level is low or high.
Level check is first troubleshooting step in any transmission problem. :p

Definitely not something I will be doing myself. I plan to take it to the dealer and watch them check it to make sure that they actually do it this time. That why I bought a new truck, so I have the warranty to cover this stuff. I stay away from transmission and gear oil

Ive had good luck with toyota of westport in ct. They seem pretty honest. Always done what I asked the way I've asked so I'll probably go back there. The Stamford dealer botched the SC install on my 08 ( how do you leave the fuel pressure regulator disconnected on a forced induction engine? I mean really?!?) so I'm never going back there again and Greenwich is only good if you get the one tech who did my SC install...
