I apologize if this is a dumb question, I would never claim to be a mechanic and I know the least about transmissions.

About a year ago I traded in my 06 SR5 for a 2015 TSS Off-Road. Up until last month everything has been great, was very happy with the upgrade. Maybe three weeks ago I started to feel my transmission slipping a little when shifting to lower gears (automatic transmission) and immediately took it in before I caused any damage. Mechanic said there was definitely some slipping going on, fluid looked old, changed fluid, slipping stopped.

Last night, however, I was on my way home and came to a stop sign. The second I let off the brake and started to accelerate, my truck came to a complete stop following an audible clunk. After letting off the gas and accelerating again it drove fine the rest of the way home. Following day (today) I drove to work just fine, as well as the errands I've ran during the day, no issues.

Again, I apologize if this has been asked, couldn't really find anything for my specific issue. Might be a simple problem but I'd rather be safe than sorry and cause unnecessary damage that can be avoided.

Find the DIY transmission fluid flush for 2nd gens and do the fluid level check, its highly possible you are low on fluid.

    I'll look into that, thanks.

Sub’d, I’d like to know either how much fluid it’s low or how much comes out if you decide to drain and fill.

Just a little update, finally got a chance to look at my transmission fluid.

Followed the steps to check my transmission fluid level and, as the linked post said, there was a small trickle coming from the overflow port. I was kind of hoping to see that it was a little low (to explain why my truck acted that way), however I haven't had any issues with my transmission since that day. Been driving a good bit and everything is shifting normally.

At least good to know you have the correct amount of fluid. And now you know how to check level properly, so you can do a drain and fill should you choose to.
