It would have to be a TRD Pro or TRD Offroad fully loaded model for anyone to care in the future really and be a collector with 4x4

SR5 is a model no one really wants. People buy it because its cheaper and justify not getting a TRD model cause x y and z

    *WARNING Darkness Ahead*

You are theorizing on an unknown and unstable variable. Time. No one knows what the future holds. My brother has a 2020 Dodge Challenger wide-body with a scat pack in manual trans. Supposedly, for his color (black), there were less than 20 made in the US. Whatever... It certainly isn't a practical vehicle, but he would rather give up anything than to part with that vehicle. He too, thought that at the very least, it would be a valuable collector's item one day. Well, last week he let me know he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

Time is your most valuable and unpredictable variable. No one knows how much they have until you don't have any more of it. Money is just a representation of time. So, how many of your labor hours, or heartbeats, are you willing to trade for a thing? That's for you to decide. It's YOUR time. Only you can decide how to spend it. I can tell you, I'd trade my Taco, 4Runner, house, my brother's car for more time with family, but that's not how it works.

Really sorry to hear about your brother. You are correct that our time is really limited here. Be thankful for what you have and enjoy today while you can.

Buy Gold bars, keep it as a collector item. I have a suspicion Gold bars will bring money some day .

Thanks Les. I think there's a fitting quote rolling around in my head...

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” – Ferris Bueller

But another aspect of keeping a vehicle as a collector's item is that if you didn't regularly drive it, they seals and whatnot might need to be replaced.

i would never invest this way but, if someone wanted to buy a mid size ICE truck and hold for the future, i would recommend the nissan frontier over the 3G taco. :crapstorm:

I’ve never known anyone that’s worth several million at retirement age that did it investing in a vehicle, and storing it in a barn. I do however know quite a few that invested properly and it paid off in the end.

If you're considering as an investment...That's just dumb. If it's a passion project and you have the money...Go for it!

You will need some sort of protection or insurance from insects, rodents, pests, fire, flood, the environment, etcetera.

From experience, i can tell you that most vehicles go to shit somehow if not driven atleast once a week. A truck is a fairly large item to have sitting around and not use.

If it is a monetary investment, then you are waaaaaaay better off cleaning up an 80's junky muscle car or truck. You can flip them for sure.
The Tacoma will only go down in value, from brand new price.

If you want it just because you want it, and you have the money, then fk what anyone else thinks and get it.

OP, was there a thread this morning about you buying another Tacoma to replace the new one you have because of all the issues you had with it?

There are probably some parts that require zero maintenance and will be easy to store that, while not fun to look at, could accomplish the same thing. Maybe factory seat covers? TRD Pro upper control arms? IDK but there probably is something that would be worth a lot if stashed away (and not lost or destroyed by rodents).
