    Bum deal!

It took insurance 4 months to total out my FR-S after hitting two deer.

    The car was...err..less than stock.

The whole front end and the doors were carbon fiber. Finding a shop that would even touch it was almost impossible. They were very pushy on using non-OEM parts too and kept assuring me it wasn't a total loss until they found out the carbon doors alone were almost 4000 dollars without paint lol

I fought for a total loss, knowing the car would never be right again. They finally totaled it and someone bought it and had it fixed. Nothing lines up and the paint looks like garbage.

Accidents are never fun! best of luck with everything and i am glad you are okay!

V6 or 4 cyl? Auto or manual? I ask because I want to compare to what I got for my 09.

Glad you're ok! Make sure to get checked out by a reputable chiropractor and claim it on insurance. I had a 3 car pile up in March (why I now have a Tacoma) and was just released from care. No outward signs of injury the first few days, but the pain got worse over the next two weeks. Fortunately, I had already started the treatment!

Lots of good stuff you can part out if it is totaled. Like those Ray10s :spy:

Not $30,000 worth. If it can be fixed for less than what’s it worth, then it will be fixed. Insurance companies are going to do whatever cost them the least amount of money while making the vehicle up to safety standards.

If the frame is collapsed they can replace it. It depend on your insurance company some do replacement, some don't.

This. always assume the driver in front of you is either a complete drooling retard or drunk. Probably both. Min 1 car length per 10 miles per hour. Yeah I drive like fcking grandpa.

I work in collision repair and deal with all kinds of insurance companies everyday. It takes a lot of damage to total a vehicle out nowadays. It looks fixable to me without the chance of totaling unfortunately. I am like you though, I wouldn't want it back after being hit that hard. Vehicles are never the same after a collision like this. Airbags, seatbelts, airbag module, and the safety restraint system is the only reason it will total out. That is where the most of the money will be spent. Other than those parts, It's mostly just bolting on replacement parts and paintwork. I hope to hear the outcome!

Yea but they can be wrong. Brother was T boned turning into his driveway. Insurance initially put him 75% at fault based on "usual turnout when it goes to court" Here's the curious details of his accident.... he was hit by a driver who passed 5 cars in a no passing zone on a blind hill. Driver claimed my brother did not have his signal light on, 5 witnesses said he did. Cop wrote the driver up for passing in a no passing zone and passing multiple vehicles . Sister in law got a lawyer, they brought in an accident investigation team and then the insurance company told the driver to pay his ticket(s) and put him at 100% fault. This took 2 months but in the end it didn't go to court. Just because the insurance company assigns blame, doesn't always mean they get it right.

Glad your ok...and really sorry to hear about that truck. Quick backstory (not to thread jack but this aligns). I'm on my 4th Taco. IMO...Safest trucks on the road. My 3rd Taco was in a head on with a Full Size Chevy Truck. Junkie/addict loser crossed the yellow and hit me a mile from my home, I was going 25 mph he was going 35mph. Zero braking applied prior to collision, oh yeah and he had cash, heroin, and needles on him he tried to hide but that is another story altogether. My point is...I fully expected my truck to be totaled, 2009 TRD SPORT CC with 32K miles...and it was NOT. 45 days to repair and 24K in cost. I was livid. I assumed it was due to the insurance company/adjuster. I left them for another insurance carrier. Looking back on it that may not have been the reason. Anyways I'm back in a Taco and couldn't be happier. Not to be a downer, just sharing. I hope they total your truck assuming the damage warrants it...if I had to do over again I would press my Insurance company really HARD to have my vehicle totaled. Your the customer and should have some say in the process. The day I took delivery of my Truck Post repairs I traded it in...thats how sick over it I was. I guess these trucks are hard to total? Best of luck with your situation.

I wouldn't want it back. Here's hoping they total it.

Wrecked vehicle are never the same, no matter how good the shop.

I'm gonna guess, totaled. Once a shop starts taking off damaged parts they often find more damage that was hidden. Fingers crossed for you.

Based on your 75% threshold you should be good - any early ideas on what you'll get?
