You're right, because sometimes they can be better, the not the same is just a myth..

Who ever said these are the safest trucks on the road

Glad you are OK OP, surprised how easily vehicles are totaled these days but never understood those that won't drive a vehicle after they are wrecked. Just financially a horrible choice and there is no guarantee new is better as those tend to have issues and failures (sometimes catastrophic) as well. It quite literally is a crap shoot, but a good shop can work wonders.

After working in a body shop for years and many more in the auto industry, I whole heartedly disagree with you. Do you though.

That's $1000 less than what I paid for my new '17 DCSB OR 4x4 minus your deductable, I can't see how that's not an easy total.

They have to give an estimate of the totals regardless of repair or total. Factor in the supplemental costs that they know they will have, as well as diminished value payouts and it's totaled.

I thought the same thing, having never been to one. The first two tried to sign me up for 20 visits without even doing a thorough exam, x-rays, or having my previous medical history.

If you do the research, there are great chiros everywhere that goal out your recovery and health, not just "see where you're at after X visits".

To each his own, but my body is in much better shape after being corrected by the chiro. The curve in my neck has returned (lost from whiplash in accident) and my axial pain is not only gone, but I have more movement in my lower back than I had before my wreck!

Post the PDF of the full estimate.
Again, where is the truck at. Is it in a tow yard where they wrote that...or is it at a shop and has already been torn down?
How many months old is it? How many miles do you have on it?
Some carriers will fix a car up to 100% of acv within the first 6 months or year.

If your car is NOT totalled some insurance policies will pay you a certain sum of money for 'diminished' value due to the fact it was in an accident and repaired. (Less resale value).

If a State Farm adjuster wrote 31k on it in a tow yard, without it being torn down, and it's not a total, then it most likely will be once it gets to a shop.
If they ask about where you want to have it fixed, do not go to one of their "preferred" shops that will discount the bill...have it taken to the nearest Toyota certified collision center.
Once it's supplemented it will probably go over the total loss threshold.
If for some reason it doesn't, find out how long it's going to take them to get a frame. It's typically weeks, so you can push them to total it because of how long it will take to get the part.
