I did a bit of hard off-roading recently, it was a good amount of fun. But I did hit the frame a few times and scrape that pesky exhaust line again. I'm wondering if anyone has advice on what I need to check. Do the frame bolts have a torque spec? I imagine the torque is high on them and I don't have to worry about those, but wanted to check.

I wouldn’t be considered a hard core off-roader, but typically when I get back to pavement I give a general look at the underneath for sticks/ vines/ whatever trapped or wrapped or dangling- clean all that out.

If I had a less than ideal bump, look at all the low spots, LCA, crossmembers, rear diff, whatever else for damage. Not worried about scrapes, but dents, leaks certainly.

Then once moving again, listen for odd noises during slight turns, braking, accel.

If nothing shows up in any of that, I call it good.

Check for debris, leaks from possible puncture. Get steel skids, and you don't have to worry anymore.

Thanks, I also found this video, which oddly took a bit of searching: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pb_RvrnX4dw

As for steel skids, I'd love to, but driving a DCLB 4x4 I'm a bit averse to adding more weight and eating into the already meager cargo capacity. This vehicle is an all-purpose weekend vehicle and I need it to support multiple hobbies :)

Some of my scrapes on the underbody are deeper than the paint, how does one prevent rust in such situations? I'm hoping I can spray them with the Fluid Film that's recommended on this forum.
