Yokohama Beach Park, O'ahu Hawaii. One of the nicest beaches I've ever been too! Right up the road from this beach is an entrance to a hiking spot on the mountain. My buddies and I took our Yotas up there a couple weekends ago. heres a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lYJZ4Ao8XI

I've lived by these forests for about 45 years. Have worked for timber companies and forest consultants in them. And have a lifetime of R and R in them.
Honestly, they are something you have to come and see and experience. You CANNOT photograph them. Like glaciers, (which incidentally I also spent 14 years in/on/and over), you have to go to them to begin to comprehend them. Even then, they defy the mind.
All that said, this road is just 5 miles from my home. And we drive it frequently. And believe me when I tell you, these trees in these pictures are "ok" size wise,.... some about 9ft in diameter. I've personally measured (ready? ) trees over 15ft diameter, and upwards of 350 - 360ft tall. (By the way, the tallest KNOWN is just over 379ft tall.
So, it pleases me greatly to share this here.

    20160202_163120-1-1.jpg

Note. As I live in the heart of where these trees thrive, I naturally have some on my property, including some I've planted. The property I've live on I purchased 30 years ago, and planted seedlings at that time. Some of them are now over 20" in diameter. With growth rings 1/4' to 3/8" wide, its easy to understand why I 'lovingly' call these trees "Redweeds".

And where be this? Even though we live on the Pacific north coast, I crave desert camping.... Utah?

    Great pics, everyone !

Can everyone please post a caption with their pics to let us know where they were taken ? That would make looking at the photos much more meaningful and a bit educational. Gracias !
