Normally there are a lot of hikes and camping spots but there’s too much smoke right now. For driving it’s tame, just a lot of washboards and loose rocks. There’s one section that’s narrow with a very steep drop on one side and some blind curves. There was a big Ram truck I crossed paths with earlier going the opposite direction, it would have been awkward if we met up at that narrow part.

I turned around after an hour because there was a storm approaching from the east and fires to the west. One section of the road is low and has flash flood warnings posted so I wanted to get back across it before the storm hit.

Yea these fires messed up a full week of camping in Williams and then to the Grand Canyon. Headed to San Diego instead.
We are getting decent rain now, hopefully early fall things will be better.
    Thanks for the info.!

The only open road is the road to the marina from Cave Creek Rd. The roads immediately surrounding the lake are open. It’s all paved except for the beach areas and a 2WD car can drive most of that. I played around on a few berms.

I wanna engage my 4WD but I only have stock tires and can't see spending $1,000 on another set. There are a few dirt/gravel roads near me that
I go out on sometimes just for the exercise but they are nothing to write home about. A little scenery would be welcome...

If you follow the dirt road along the shore to the Bartlett Flats there are small hills along the way. There are usually two paths up/down each hill. A smooth gradual slope and a steeper slope with ruts and bumps. You could try out 4LO on the steeper paths, even though it’s not really necessary. The loose sand (it’s more like fine gravel) would let you test out MTS if you have it.

These are really nothing to write home about but it’s better than nothing. Right now most of the roads and trails are closed. You could ask in the AZ sub forum about other places to go to try out your truck’s capabilities.
