How! Do you have to add a filter to get that color? I mean I need to know more. I have to be able to do this!! Wow great shot..

 

I love this shot too. These shots aren't that difficult if you have a decent camera.

Typically a good wide angle lens ( ie: 11mm~24mm ) is needed with a minimum for F2.8 for best results.
F 1.4 is fabulous F 1.8 is great but you can get away with F 3.5 but not much more than that.

You gotta get into dark-sky territory as well and mind the dates, a new moon coupled with clear skies is best.
Also be advised as the season matures the shots can be had as early as dark-thirty while early in the season it's much later in the night.
After October you've pretty much missed the window. Go online to check for dark-sky territory and when the milky way will rise.

Shoot in a Southernly direction at infinity at ISO 1600 ~ ISO 3200 for 10-15-20-25-30 seconds and check results. Anything more than 30 seconds
will result in blur from the earths rotation. Don't rely on the lens to give you true infinity, some test shots may be required to tune in true infinity on any given lens.
You can use live-view on most of these cameras and magnify an object to get best focus.

A tripod is absolutely required ( duh ).

I actually and without permission took that image and edited it in several programs to bring out the detail.
To the original poster of this image, if I have overstepped please accept apologies.

If you really want to get into it - several shots of the foreground and background at different settings and then stacked can really do wonders.

If you or anyone on here has similar shots and would like for me to take a stab at bringing out some of the detail do let me know. I love to do it.

One last important note: When shooting anything shoot RAW. You have a much fuller control in post processing the image before it is compressed to JPG format.

D3300 is a good entry level camera you can find used for 300-400.
D7200 big step up for 700-800.
Z9 if you are loaded and have the time to master it for thousands LOL
