This place isn't that far from me - excellent milky way shot locations abound.
Quite unforgiving too - how far off in were you, any cell service? It's getting pretty toasty down there right?

Would you go in with stock tires? -
Small camper?

 

At this point we were ~60 minutes from a paved road iirc. There was no cell reception in this area (campsite near Skull Rock had plenty), but most of Kofa is out of service.

It was already pretty uncomfortable one month ago when we did this.

Yes, stock tires and stock truck is fine. Towing a small trailer would be doable as well, especially to this spot. A truck mounted camper is no issue at all.

Thank you. I use a Nikon D7500 with a 24-120 F/4 Nikkor lens (primarily), but this shot was taken by my friend Brent with his Canon 90D and a new wide angle lens (not sure on exact specs) he brought on the trip.

Edit: It was captured with this lens: EF-S10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM

Ahh, I'm a Canon guy so I like to hear that, haha. I like the edit too, I get too caught up in changing the entire mood of the photo with the colors but this is nice and crisp and vivid while sticking to the natural color composition.

 

I was torn between the D7500 and the D7200. Picked up a used D7200 with very low shutter count and am very happy with it.
Next time you go out there let me know I'd like to tag along - like this fall?...

Road tripped to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Saturday. Beautiful area I used to camp all over there when I was younger. By Memorial day it will be overrun with tourists so now was a perfect time to visit.
