20200824_142921.jpg used the ladder racks for a 17ft canoe in WY last summer. It worked but I wasnt a huge fan of the look. Just got a prinsu rack delivered, hoping that works without the need for the ladder racks on at all

This is from last year. I mostly use a utility trailer because we have so many people that float. And, I don't get dents or scratches on the truck from loading/unloading.
We drop in and float for anywhere from 2-6 hours and have a 2nd vehicle parked.
These people in the back of my truck just needed a lift up river.
That day we had 9 people piled in the taco truck. I've had up to 14 kayaks on the trailer and one time we had a total of 34 people in the group.

First time putting the 2 tandems on the truck. Had planned to stack the 2 kayaks in the back, but didn't see an easy way to tie down the camper shell hatch. It was a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be to get the kayak on the roof.

I ran a strap bow and stern at first but the windage on the straps put a surprising amount of pressure on the racks and the roof creaked and groaned like a bastard so now I just run it strapped to the racks. I learnt from the movie "The World's Fastest Indian" to set the canoe slightly back of centre for aerodynamic stability :p

Those racks were too small for the truck really anyway, I have some longer ones now I just need to sort out pads for but what I would like to do is fab up mounts for the factory bolt holes.

This looks good, and what I was looking for when I ordered a roof rack. When I had that canoe on my ladder racks in the bed the nose just cleared my windshield and then I had like 5' hanging off the backend

I used to have to throw them up on the roof and strap them down when I had a Jeep. I don’t miss it. Now they just get stuck in the bed of the truck and done. Although I don’t have a picture of that.
