    Hello,

So, I thought it would be cool to have a tread dedicated to the pictures of your Toyota Tacoma overland / expedition set-ups.. trailers.. tents.. pick-up bed setup's... cages and racks. If there's already one then please link me to it.. sorry I must have missed it :) If this is new then lets fill this thing up with cool set-ups!!!!!

We all adventure and love to get out and explore. That is why be bought our Tacoma's in the first place. We wanted the best and so we bought it. We love our trucks and we love to use them. They help get us to those amazing experiences in the outdoors! Having the best tool for the job is always a must.. are trucks are that tool.

There are so many great ideas out there... so many creative builds... creative minds.. so lets see what you have come up with.

I need more ideas for my next build!!!!!

So, I call mine the "Adventure Box". I've built 10 of them now and every year they get better. They weigh 1,500 pounds, have led lights, full sized spare tire, queen bed, huge star window, dual doors, 5X8' footprint, front storage, 110 power hookup, heated mattress pad, dual side vents, screen doors, dead bolt locks, shaker cabinets, rear cooler storage, dual awnings, side out gear trays, map storage, fiberglass re-inforced walls and floor, floatable :), full sized tires, Timbren Axle-less suspension, Swing out full sized tire / spare / table, under floor storage, on and on.

So this is just my version of the perfect expedition trailer for my specific needs. What are your ideas? Thoughts? What does your set-up look like? What have you built? I want to see them!

Let see your builds and set-ups so post away!!!!

Remember... the miles put on your truck exploring are never a bad thing but rather a badge to the life you're lucky enough to live! Drive and drive... all you're doing is creating memories and stories that will last a lifetime... and in the end you'll never want fewer miles but will always want more memories and stories.

    Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,

    Christopher Hudson

Doesn't matter if it should be in another thread or not. This sweet set up deserves a thread of its own.
More details and pics please.

Here are a few pics of mine. I bought the 4x6 trailer to put my RTT on it. Knowing I wanted to carry my quad and bikes for the camping trips. The RTT just wasnt working for me on top of the truck. So we built a rack on the trailer for the tent and a swing gate hitch for the bikes. Allowing the quad to fit under the tent. The tent can be lowered if need be. We also made a cover for the trailer if I want a little security for my items in the trailer. One day I will take more pictures of it and make a build thread.

AdventureBox: Great looking trailer/camper. I have owned two teardrops campers, but have moved to a fiberglass standee.

I am curious, what does a base adventure box cost?

@Lv4Tacos I've sold trailers for around 8K... but they can get expensive fast with options as you can imagine. See every year I build "the one" trailer I'm going to use for the season and it's always been sold before the actual season ends in November / December. Someone always sees it while I'm out driving, they come up and ask about it, and they end up buying it LOL. Then I'm once again trailer-less and I get to build a new one. :)

Thank you. I am jealous of your set up though..... I wanted to ask about the Timbren Axle-less suspension. I tried getting it on my trailer in the past but where I went they were not very helpful then after that I lost interest due to cost. But I am still somewhat interested since its on my list to do. The set up now the trailer bounces everywhere!

Is it worth it? Advantages and disadvantages?

I think I saw a TW200 on top of your trailer on your web site. Ive been wanting one of those one day too!

Yeah it's an amazing suspension but you need to make sure you have the right bumper in the set-up for the trailer weight. The "Long Arm One Tons are the way to go and ride a million times better. There is no bounce and its really really smooth. People often run a way to stiff block with Timbren and it sucks. I've figured out the block thing so it works great. I'm also adding air bags to the next one so I'll have adjustability for the exact load weight no matter the situation. 200-300 pounds difference can really change dynamic of how they ride. Compared to springs... it doesn't... its way better you just have to know what you're doing.

    Great question!!!

It all depends on the weather and if we're camping around wild animals or not... grizzly bears have eaten my shoes before.. true story.

Sometimes we just leave them on the fenders outside... some times we put them bins under the trailer ( if its wet out or the shoes are really dirty) sometimes they go in the cupboards at the base of your feet inside the trailer.. sometimes they are on-top of the tires under the fenders. Lots of options there. In the warmer months we always have flip flops and usually have the boots and shoes in the front storage box. No stinky shoes inside small spaces then. But really lots of options concerning shoes.

    Hope that helps :)

Hey thanks ya I was curious. I have seen a few of the types of trailers you have and well kinda had the curiousity about that. sales people are only so good if they don't use a set up like yours. Even when buying a Tacoma I ask the sales man what they drive. one guy said prius so I went with a different sale guy lol. happy adventures! also didn't know grizzlie's shoes enough to actualy eat them. :D

@livingfreeyyc LOL I can assure you Grizzly's will in fact eat your shoes... any bear will :) They're going after the salt from sweating. Anyway, I started building these trailers because of the need for a safe place to sleep in Grizzly country... I was camping with my 3 year old daughter and wasn't willing to soft wall tent it anymore... Adventure Boxes were born because of that need and it turns out that I like a soft mattress, a heated blanket and pillows a lot... so does my girlfriend. It's a lot easier to get your signifiant other to go when they're comfortable. Just saying :)

This Is I good point mind you I am pretty bear aware gotta keep the camp site clean that's for sure. I live in alberta so lots of area I go could be prone to bear activity. But where I am camp Banff is on the other side of the mountain so I assume the bear are over keeping the tourists on their toes lol. Looks like a really well built product that's forsure man. have you sold a lot of these up here in Canada? Well I suppose I don t have to worry about having a gf be comfy seeing a I am single lol.

@livingfreeyyc None to a Canadian yet but I will. Canadians go crazy over the trailer every-time we head up. People always stop us to ask about it and take pictures of it. I have a boarder agent who wants one and every-time we drive across and see him he tries buying it LOL. The seasons are so short and extreme the further north you go and having a hard wall around you extends your camping chances by two or three times. No to mention the comfort, warmth, being dry, not packing up and ease of use they provide. Also, the forest service roads are so narrow so small trailers rule in that country... B.C. anyway.
