Nice Jeff. I was so afraid that you were gonna get a 250 or a Vespa.

I know a lot of guys with the 883's most of them want a 1200 or punch out their engines.

yeah thats what i hear...which punching them out runs around $1500 i think...so the price difference was actually cheaper to just go ahead and buy the 1200 in a paint scheme i like...with a lot of add-ons already on it

Those courses are great. I took the MSF course after riding for a few years and learned a ton.

Here is a pic of my first road bike, It is a 1984 Honda Shadow, 500cc v-twin. I have not ridden it yet due to not running correctly, however, I do have my instruction permit.

Never said I wouldn't ride one. It is quite comfortable on the Road King and it does make a nice sound, and it even handles the twisties better than I expected. But, for right now the thrill of dragging a knee at 75 in a 25mph curve is just too much to give up.:D I'll probably buy his Road King when he decides he doesn't want to ride anymore, then I'll be set. Disclaimer: (dragging a knee at 75 in a 25mph curve) this is slightly stupid and I do not recommend it off of a closed course without full gear! (oops:))

But seriously, WEAR GEAR!!! This is a guy on the r6 forum I belong to. He hit a guard rail running 30. I've only posted the link because it's pretty graphic. He's alive and doing very well.

Dammit, that is sharp looking. I'm currently looking for one of these or the VROD and want to get the 300 wide tire kit installed. Is your rear tire a 240 or did you go bigger???? What else did you change from stock on this besides the exhaust.....

O, your truck looks sharp also. You have good taste!!!!!

We just did my wife's bike. We used the red and green Scotch scuff pads to take the gloss off the finish. That saved us over $800 in labor with the painter. He shot all ten parts for a total of $754.00. That was an epoxy primer, base coat and two coats of clear. The bike was Cobalt Blue and the lower fairing kit I found was shift red. Now, it is all 1997 Toyota Mystic Purple Mica Pearl. Most quotes we were getting were $1600 to $2k. The painter said that all we needed to do was remove the shine so long as the whole bike was still factory paint.

His and Hers Yamaha FZ1s... Clearly, two differing tastes but I'd ride either of them.

Here is a video I made showing just what the painter showed me what needed to be done. The worst part is getting into all the small corners and crevasses because the bike has a lot of them!

Hope this helps! If you talk to the local painters, ask about doing your own prep work.

Man that paint looks good. I got quoted 400 if I brought the parts to him. My dads a painter but has not had anything to do with me for awhile. We are talking a little now. Hanging out when we get chance. I think im going to ask him to paint it. Anyway with the pic I posted of my bike do you think I should paint all the gloss black plum crazy purple and all the gray flat black? Look on google if you haven't seen plum crazy purple.....its the darker purple not the pink looking.....im going to start a thread to see what other ppl think but was going to see what you thought.

I think it would look awesome! I've seen the plum crazy purple (Dodge Challenger color of old AND new...) Talk to the painters though and see what coatings they are putting on... what brand of paint. Most often, the cheapest is never the best choice. We got cheaper quotes but did not like what they were putting on for layers or the brand of paints being used. When we found this guy, he had all the qualities we were looking for plus he's done show bikes and boats too. :D

She was going to go with the plum crazy at first but it was too light for her so she chose the Toyota Mystic Purple Mica for the darkness.

What do you mean layers? I might talk to my dad to see what is the brand pain he uses. He's a really good painter. The plum crazy is not that light. Its pretty dark to me.
