I was wondering about this too and I had read it's longitudinal due to the direction of the crankshaft in relation to the frame, not the layout of the cylinder heads. Anyways, I stumbled upon this seemingly unbaised comparison of the BMW and the Stelvio, although it's fairly brief.

Great review thanks for posting it! According to the reviewer it looks like a toss up but the Guzzi has two pluses in my book in that its thousand of $$$ less then the Beemer and its much more simpler to maintain. Maintenance is often overlooked when buying a bike and its one reason why I ride a vintage Beemer since I can do most all the wrenching on the bike myself and believe me I'm no great mechanic.

Ah yes the big bad flying brick but in the K1600GT case it should be called the flying cinder block! As you say it is one big bad bike that can flat our cruise all day and not feel like someone beat your ass at the end of the day. Way to much weight for me to handle, maybe if I was a few years younger. Any ways I'd like to find an even older beemer then the 81 I now have. As I tell my wife its getting lonely and needs a friend but she isn't buying it, I wonder why? :D

Went riding with a buddy around a lake 45 minutes South of me. Had a great time until his bike cut off. We were dumb and didn't bring any tools with us. Got it home and it was just the 10 amp main fuse that blew. Probably from his light bar shorting out....

There are so many bikes out there that I'd like to have, LOL. Choosing just one was hard. I ended up going w/ the ST1300 because I couldn't be the "bang for the buck" bargain I got on it. It's a comfy bike, there are plenty of upgrades for it, the support community is huge, and it runs very well. Someday I might would like to have some sort of adventure tourer as well...maybe a Triumph Tiger or something of the sort. For my classic....I'm not real sure. SO many to choose from. I'd KILL for a Norton Commando. (My theory is ...I want 3 bikes....touring bike, adventure bike, classic bike). :)

I agree with you that the Honda ST1300 is a great touring bike and you do get allot of bang for your bucks with Honda. I also see a lot of people into cruisers with the Yamaha FJR which also has proven performance record. Your spot on that ideally having three bikes touring, adventure, and classic is the way to go and along with that I too have lusted after a Norton Commando! To me its the best of the classic Brit bikes. If only I could convince the wife on the three bike theory, maybe that's why she always bulks and puts on the brakes when I find another bike to buy?

I know the feeling! Anytime I buy something for the bike I have to convince "the accountant" that it's a good deal and that it's a necessary upgrade. LOL.

"sweetheart...I HAVE to order this exhaust. It's half the price of that OTHER exhaust, but still good quality...and as we know...loud pipes save lives...you want me to be safe don't you?". :D

LOL! It's bad enough dealing with the "accountant" on the newest farkel for the bike but now I've made it doubly bad for myself by buying a new 3rd generation Tacoma!

Novel idea but makes me go hmmm ...... For some external gas tank options you might try looking at the IBR (Iron Butt Rally) or its association and take a look at some of the photos of idea's that long distance riders use to carry extra fuel.

The way i ran the two straps, i pushed and pulled as hard as i could and it wouldn't budge. I have it looped on the back section then cross it to the other side. I was looking at the roto-pax but after the mount and gas can it was gonna be close to 160 bucks

So this BS happened this morning. image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg Thank you Mayor fuckhead. #freecampinginseattle. Used to be a safe place to park my bike. Now there is a trailer park across the street and human feces everywhere. Fuck you Seattle, I need to move.
