Hopefully my last weekend with my GSXR. Buying a Buell XB12SCG this weekend, and selling my GSXR.

I want something different. Everybody and their brother has a GSXR. I love the Harley sound and the vibration. Not really wanting a cruiser though. Best of both worlds, in my opinion. Also, My first bike was an 01 Buell X1 Lightning, so I'm sort of fond towards them :)

Thanks. The main things that I have left on my list is drag bars, exhaust, white walls, spoke rear wheel, and paint. Oh I also want to get rid of a little more chrome. Down the road I would, eventually, like to do an actual rigid frame and a springer front, but it's not in the budget right now so it'll have to wait.

I'm sure you guy's don't need to hear this or have heard this a million times but here it is again, wear your gear every single time you ride. I'm burying a long time friend of mine that died this morning riding his motorcycle. Some guy 3 day's out of surgery still doped up on pain med ran a red light and T-boned him, unfortunately killed him. Doctors say his gear, which I used to get onto him about not wearing like he should, gave him enough time to let his parents say goodbye to him before passing. Shiny side up guy's.

Seriously man... I'd rather go out right then and there than linger for a few hours... or a lifetime as an invalid.

    As I said before...

I'm fully aware of the risks every time I pull out of the garage.
Both of my friends were fully geared and died instantly.
The sad thing is that Laidback's death was a tragic accident that could not be faulted to anyone. Trailer hitch in the lane on the freeway, poor lighting. He hit the hitch, it bent the front rim, locked up, washed out into the center divider, impact threw him into the fast lane and a pickup ran over his torso.
His wife was riding right behind him and had to watch the whole thing.

Tazman, idiot made a left in front of him. Taz put down 40ft of rubber before impacting the idiot's fender.
Claimed the sun was in his eyes, fortunately the responding PD too photos of the street from the idiot's POV and the sun was a good 30 degrees off-line from the road. Idiot actually went to jail for it. Given the guy's age (over 80), it may be a life sentence.

That's what I said also but he had a paramedic so he was able to get meds and kill some of the pain. I'm told he was conscience enough to speak a little bit. As much as it would hurt I would want to be able to speak with my parents before I died. Although I pray they never have to bury me.

Sad to hear. But the fact is I'd rather go doing something I enjoy. That's how I get through burying my buddies.

Nothing right now, but looking at some newer BMW R models with the boxer engine.

Sold that R65 to a collector, bought a '75 R90 with a rusted inside tank, had my cousin fix it up, rode it for a couple years then sold it to his brother who is still riding it. Bought a '90 Honda Hurricane 1000, that fucker was two handfuls too much for me.

I'm seriously looking at getting one of the newer BMW R's with the boxer. I love those boxer engines. The low center of gravity makes them so easy to handle for a big bike. It's a beautiful time-tested design.

Very a nicely a done. And I agree to chuck those bars for drag bars. Definately will fit the look better. White walls are a personal thing. Keep the project going.

But you can't work on a 1200 the same way you would a /7 so in some ways, they've not changed but in others, they're more complex.

I love the fact that a valve job doesn't require you to strip the plastics-even on an RT.
