Yeah, it does. I'm pleased with the results. If it were just me I would have installed a bigger box with two 10" subs, but I couldn't use that much space. The wife would not have approved. ;)

The only other thing I might do in the future is to replace the MTX 4500 (which has a 225 Watt RMS) with another 10" speaker that has a higher power rating.

I'd also like to put a clear coat on the wood. That would finish it off nicely.

So the metal brackets on the stock headunit fit on the pioneer/metra dash kit combo? I have a pioneer 5800 and used the Metra dash kit with the included plastic brackets and the fit is not that great.

Good to know! I'm gonna try to refit the headunit with the metal brackets now. Any tips on how the metal brackets should line up with the pioneer? Thanks man.

    Couple more questions.
Did you have to drill & tap for the holes to bolt it to the floor?
And did you have to raise it up any to have the correct ride height?
Really want to get a pair of these, seats, now.
    Thanks!

When I mounted my Alpine 3400x1 mono sub amp under the passenger seat I used a screw that was holding down an access cover for the electrical wires as the grounding point. It worked fine. The installer had to drill into the floor for the Alpine 3552 under the driver's seat for the ground.

Question for the masses. Are there any adapters for first gen door speakers, going to 6.5" that add depth to clear the window? Or is it just the normal ones and some woodwork spacers required? Got some hertz' laying in a box and they need to go in. Missing a front speaker so sound is... Off. Thanks.

If you figure out how to squeeze a 6.5 in there I'd love to know how. I wanna stick a pair of SI TM65 MKIIs in there real bad.

Here's what you have to work with

My Flutes are 67mm deep and they just fit.

Yeah, I coulda turned the ruler the other way, but the width of the factory mount is about 6 inches.

The other potential problem with a 6.5. Lots of 6 inch woofers out there though. Many of them are 8 ohm, but maybe?

Thanks! Two 12" Memphis Mojos, one behind each seat and ported through the center console

I honestly don't remember, the only issue I recall was the harnesses for the air bags

Thanks for the pics! I've read a lot of 6.5 installs, most people use some MDF of sorts to build spacers to push them away from the window to get more depth. Some trimming is required on the back of the door panel to the lips around the grill. It's not visible once installed. And the 6.5 hertz are 4 ohm. most of the components I looked at are 4 ohm. I was just curious if there was a premade 6.5 adapter with the built in depth adder if you will. Sounds like MDF is the way to go though. I still don't have an amp but want to at least hear some music so I'm gonna install them for now and wire in an amp later. I'll see if I can dig up the thread about cutting them...

I wonder if he actually got that thing in the door. The writeup just sort of died without going there. It didn't seem to me that there's enough room for that MDF ring...let alone both pieces. If memory serves correctly the factory speaker is pretty close to the door card grill. Looks like he had to trim the metal too - that's a deal-breaker. I'll get a refresher soon though - getting back in the doors to seal them up as soon as my SDS order comes to town! I'm going to poke around to see how much room is in the rear speaker pockets too - toying with the idea of subs back there if there's enough airspace.
