Just want to keep this at the top. We know the 2x4s are doing well on MPG, let's get more 4x4s for a larger sample size. Thanks.

Over the first thousand miles, 90% town driving, I'm averaging 19. On a recent trip on the Interstate, driving 75, the average was 22. Mine in a two wheel drive TRD Sport.

Remember to log your mileage on Fuelly:

    http://www.fuelly.com/

Posting in this thread just provides some anecdotal examples, but Fuelly has statistical significance (assuming enough people post). Make sure you specify your engine/transmission/drivetrain your Fuelly profile.

You asked for detail so here goes. Currently have 485 miles on my 2 week old DCSB TRD Off-Road 4x4 + tonneau cover with stock 265/70R16s. Just went 120.2 miles from Raleigh, NC to Wilmington, NC with about 80 miles on I-40 going 75MPH and the rest on 2 lane highways @ 60MPH. My camera didn't like trying to take pictures in the dark but the trip fuel economy was 20.9MPG. Used a bit less than 1/4 of a tank and still show 299 miles to empty which would make 420miles+ on a tank. Seems that the odometer may be about 2% low as 20 road markers equaled 19.6 miles and my gps track gave 122.63 compared to the 120.2 on the odometer. Trip summary and copilot below.

So I wanted to see what kind of economy could be achieved driving pretty conservatively, with our "little engine that couldn't" 2016 Tacoma.

These miles resemble about 50 in rush hour traffic, 100 of Phoenix surface streets, and the rest maintaining 60 to 70 on the freeway. Acceleration was mild, but kept up with general traffic.

According to the actual miles / actual gallons, the number is 24.25.

Edit - V6, Prerunner, Auto, DCSB.

18.4 mpg on highway in the mountains according to computer. This is with 285/75/R16 TRD OR DC 4x4. I am going on a longer trip tomorrow around 250 miles mostly highway and will calculate at the pump and adjust for odometer difference with larger tires.

I can't math right now, the tire difference is 7.3%, do I want to add or subtract that from the trip mileage before dividing by the gallons?

Treehugger, if your tire diameter/circumference is larger than OEM, you are traveling faster and further than indicated, so you ADD to your indicated/calculated milage by the percentage difference.

Can people please post whether their tacomas are 4x4 or 2x4? I'm seeing a lot of mpg's figures, but not so many details on the drivetrain....seems to make a difference.

    Thanks!

My truck has a little over 600 miles on it. I have been driving it like a sissy bitch.
I'm averaging 16-17mpg. Some city. Mostly highway at 72mph with cruise set. Several hills and that highway is a wind tunnel.

    4x4/Auto/V6/AccessCab/TRD Off-road.
