So you have bigger tires? Mine is in 6th at that speed. Just like it is at 40, 50 70mph.

I think it was because gas was like .49 cents a gallon or something, did not care really...it was all about the desert...

Im not that old! But it was around a buck for a gallon. I think it was because it was the only truck I had and buying something else was not an option so it got what it got. Who knows maybe it was simply because I was 18 and did not know any better.

Makes no sense. Driver error seems the most reasonable answer to your problem.

No, the "average" in the eco app is a longer term average. You can reset it by hitting clear or reset, forget what it's called in the app. It does not average for all time though, seems to throw data away after a while. There is a "Tank average" or "Trip average" as well that you can see in your dash. You can reset the "tank average" by opening up your gas cap area. You can reset the "trip average" by turning off the truck and turning it back on.

ha. Cruise being on kind of debunks your driver error theory. Unless you're on flat ground or going downhill, it's no secret that it likes downshifting and holding onto 5th with cruise on. Do a search and you'll find quite a few complaining about it. Mine with stock tires likes downshifting even on small hills (sometimes even down to 4th) and doesn't like going back to 6th. However, it will stay in 6th the entire time without cruise on.

I never put it past any of the users on here to be doing something incorrectly. Sorry, just my experience here.

Poster said "At 60mph and cruise set, what gear do your guys' tacomas run in? Mine stays in 5th and never upshifts." and that is ridiculous. Never going into 6th gear at 60mph? Really? I have 3k+ miles on my OR AC and have done most of that in two road trips. Whether I am going 40-75mph it will be be in 6th gear when in cruise except for hills. Yes, it downshifts easily and is reluctant to upshift after downshifting but that is not the same statement as "stays in 5th and never upshifts".

Look at my fuelly numbers. I am crushing everyone else with an OR. I must be doing something right.

Ok to use but why. You will pay more for gas to get no or little gain in performance. The engine is not set p for premium gas.
