I'm disappointed. I have around 2700 miles and get around 12 to 13 in town and no better that around 16 on the highway. I changed my original tires and wheels (285/65/18) but didnt expect it to affect fuel mileage this much.

I'm not. I would fully expect it to take a dive. What was it before you changed?

Changed the tire/wheels and did leveling kit only after about 100 miles so really don't have a way to compare.

Are you adjusting for the change in tire circumference? Looks like a 6.5% difference between 265/70R16's and 285/65R18's. Only equates to about a 1MPG increase though.

Unfortunately those numbers are with the 6% added. I'm not a fast driver but it sure seems like the auto transmission is shifting a lot.

The best trip yet. Ride to work is 55+ for all but 2-3 miles.

LOL! A lot of resetting on the 12th there ehhhhh? How long was that downhill stretch anyway? I didn't know you could reset the trip info while in motion. I bet I could top 80 mpg on Monarch west side to the bottom.

This was Pueblo to Denver. 22.7 mpg. Cruise control for about 35 miles then it was useless after that. Blasted up Monument to skirt some traffic. Averaged over 65 but didn't get the screen shot of the avg speed.
    IMG_20160321_105541.jpg
Cabellas in South Denver Metro to North Colorado Springs Bass Pro. Sick leave for appt, taking advantage of it.
    IMG_20160321_130147.jpg
Last stretch was N COS to Pueblo with a decent head wind and about 70 mph for half. Hard to read but it was 25.8 mpg. Any downhill helps a lot, and I am finding out that I need to keep the truck up to speed to cut the gear searching down. I really think if you were able to put in the manual 4:30 rear end gears the auto would get better gas mileage as it should cut the shifting out.

The anecdotal evidence that the auto starts to comply once you get some miles on it, and it learns what you want seems to be....accurate?

TRD 4x4 OR Dbl Cab Auto, with the OE Tires/Wheels, running 70 on the Interstate (or less than 70 on a good back road with no traffic) with no A/C running, I could get better than 20. Semi-normal driving while watching my eco gagues...18.5 give or take. My "normal don't give a shit about gas milage driving"...17.5. I checked my eco gauge vs real miles and gallons of gas, and the truck computer was pretty much spot on.

Now with the custom 17" wheels and 285/70/17 KOs, my GPS says I'm running 70mph when the speedo says 66. My eco gauge says I'm running about 16.7-17 MPG on the Hwy.

    FWIW, YMMV...literally

Did you really "laugh out loud"?
Not many hills in the swamp either.

Yup. 35 mpg with a Taco. Honestly doubt it, unless you have a down grade and tail wind. Biggest laugh was the multiple trip resets on the same day.

Well I guess that could be possible with a 4 banger 2X. Given that, I still think you would need some geographical, meteorological assistance.

In the swamp I would doubt any mpg. All mired in the swamp, mud, etc.....

You better not let Toyota know that you are getting that mileage. It may be like the mythical Honda Civic that escaped engineer captivity that got 80mpg. You down in oil country, Big Oil is going to put a hit out on that Taco. You fuel miser you.

Didn't want to create a new thread of this, but I just saw a video where a guy claims he gets 28 mpg...must be just highway maybe? Also it's an SR so I think that has something to do with it having street tires on it. Here is the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvp06N-SF3I

Looks like this is the truck. I gotta say, i'm not a fan of black, but this thing looks pretty nice.

    20mpg stock...
    19mpg with 3" lift...
16mpg with wheels and 33" tires... seems the lower it goes the more I love it!

UPDATE: My average is up to 17 now... I guess the "learning tranny" is still doing it's thing.

Do you need to know, or care?
Just wondering on this, does the Canadian Gen3 use Imperial gallons to report MPG, or is it the American gallon?
