Discussion in '3rd Gen. Tacomas (2016-2023)' started by tincan, Oct 20, 2015.

?

What is your OR tank average?

  1. 15-16 MPG

    23.2%
  2. 17-18 MPG

    32.1%
  3. 19-20 MPG

    22.3%
  4. 20-21 MPG

    15.2%
  5. 22-23 MPG <--I hate you if you get this.

    7.1%

When I started my the original post I assumed the MPG would be similar on ALL the models. After watching the thread, it's become apparent the ORs are the pig of the bunch when it comes to fuel economy. I'm seeing a lot of comments suggesting you could "drive better" and get better gas mileage, but as an OR owner, that simply isn't the case. It doesn't seem to matter how I drive this thing, I'm getting 17.5 MPG (Tank Average) and a little less now that I have KO's installed.

Perhaps we can crowd-source an intelligent reason as to why we have a 5 MPG disparity between a TRD OR and a TRD SPORT or SR5.

I'd like folks to post in terms of tank averages. I'm not really interested in your 4 mile downhill trip to the grocery store. I don't think it reflects a true economy. Heck, I got 19.5 MPG...once.

EDIT: Please only 4x4 votes for constancy. Hard for me to wrap my head around a 4x2 OR, but I know they are out there.

I must just have a really light foot. Probably about 85% highway driving.

For what it's worth I am running 87 octane gas. Which is giving me better mpg than the 85 I was running for the first 2 tanks.

You're going to take a trip average mpg that only consists of less than 22 miles to mean anything?

Well, he looks like a good christian fella in his picture and he does have 1272 miles on the ODO. I tend to believe him when he says he's getting 22.5 on the tank. ... I still don't like him though.

^ Just saw it in one of your pictures; but, shouldn't this be part of the survey?
