Yeah. Not a lot of problem around here with moisture build-up. Although, it's been a lot wetter this spring than normal.

I'm driving down to Phoenix and back tomorrow with my wife and I tried to get her to go in the taco to see what mileage, etc. would be like on a longer run ... but she prefers to be "comfortable" in her Pilot with leather seats, auto air and all that. Oh ... well ... I'll have to find a "guy" reason to drive somewhere further away sometime soon.

Stock 3rz I got about 18-20. After CAI, header, exhaust, and TB spacer went up to about 21-22. Went from 265/75/15's to 245/75/16's off a 2nd Gen and just checked it today 23.8mpg.

Nice thing was I got the truck for $4000
    I have a:

    2001 XTRA cab with a
4 cylinder 2.7 liter engine with
    a 2.5" lift and 285/75/16 Tires

I took a eight hour trip to Pennsylvania and averaged 20 mpg there and 21 back. This was a mix of back roads and freeway.

Ended up driving the taco. 21 MPG on the nose over the 300 miles. A lot of up and down hills, slowing down for the six towns and no freeway other than about 20 miles. Not bad I thought.

99 X-Cab 2.4 Auto Im getting 15-18 combined on avg. My normal commute gets me about 17mpg. Wish it was better but such is life.

To be fair though I am running 31" all terrains geared w/ 4.11's. The LT means glass too which doesnt help aerodynamics.

Engine mods include CAI, DT header, high flow cat and cat back exhaust .

02 v6 on stock (265/70/16) tires. Average 16.5 during the winter and 17.5 when they aren't adding 10% alcohol to the gas. Definately improves during the warmer months.

Are all of you guys that are running larger than stock sized tires compensating for the error introduced by larger tires?

Daily avg ~20 mpg (20 miles, 4 City, 16 on 55-65mph flat Rd)

Drive with a feather foot or cruise control (not as good unless you really tweak it right) be cognisant of elevation/hills. Keep your intake/air system @#$& clean, change your plugs at proper intervals, replace your O2 sensors at proper intervals, don't get massive/wide knobby tires, don't strap anything on top or have a cage/rack on top of the truck, don't lift the truck beyond 2 inches and you should be able to achieve this.

When commute to th trail to go hunting or off into the back country I just keep my gear/fuel/water in the bed/cap. I don't have a rack because I don't want to have the resistance ruin my gas milage.

Once you're at the trail all bets are off, you're gonna get dog $@#& mileage no matter what so strap your gear on top.

In the 20 years I've owned mine, I don't think I ever monitored the mileage. I don't drive it much - maybe 1,500-2.000 miles per year. I do have an amusing on topic anecdote, though:

When Toyota Priuses came out in the early 2000s, the new owners tended to gloat a bit about their mileage. I was at a gas pump in early summer filling my Tacoma when a Prius owner asked me in a snide way what kind of mileage I got. I grinned at him and said, "Well, this is only my second fill-up of the year. How 'bout you?"
