    2004 regular cab

    5 lug
    Auto

Does it have 2.4L or 2.7L?

Are both engines equally reliable ?

I have always heard that the 2.7L is the one to get if given the choice.
It appears that Wiki says the 2.4L is the one that comes with the 4x2 5lug
"Two-wheel drive Tacomas (non-PreRunner models) had 5-stud wheel lug patterns and available with the 2.4L or 3.4L. Automatic and manual transmissions were available. Four-wheel drive and PreRunner Tacomas had six-stud wheel lug patterns and were available with the 2.7L and 3.4L engines. All PreRunner and all Double Cab models were only available with an automatic transmission for the first generation while the regular cab and Xtracab four-wheel drive was available with either a manual transmission or automatic transmission."

Since I put new wheels and tires on last month, thought I'd post my truck again.

Sooooooo here's my 96. Currently off the road in strip down & rebuild. FGPT as the truck is known got into a fender bender. Insurance Co wrote it off so i bought it back......Currently rebuilding and dealing with minimal rust for the 400,000 KM of outdoor living.

It is tan, factory Toyota color just with a matte finish.

    Suspension setup:

    2.5" Daystar Spacer/AAL
    SPC Adjustable Upper Control Arms
    Bilstein 5100's
    Extended Sway Bar End Links
    Moog Ball Joints and Coils

Rides really nice for what it is.

    Thanks, I love the look.

Need to retouch the paint, Discount Tire mounted external weights even after I asked them not to lol. They fixed it right away, and it's just spray paint so I'm not too concerned.

I've also added the front hub caps that fit around the manual hubs, didn't even realize they where on the old wheels

Here's by Blurple truck all ready for the paint shop on Wednesday........Full new Blurple Livery and POR15 Chassis. For a 1996 with 400KM of outdoor hard bush work she's in great shape. The box is a doner of course and is beautiful and no rust. I bought new fenders and spent a lot of time cleaning and sanding around the windshield.

Cant wait to get FGPT back on the road.

Will add 3" King Coilover lift and rear springs in the spring.....Haha Spring, spring.
