We inherited a truck camper in similar condition. We scrapped it and took all of the appliances, electronics and plumbing to use in our cargo trailer conversion project. The shell may be a loss but you've got several thousand dollars worth of usable innards if you're interested in reusing them. It's a great way to build an affordable RV.

I keep my stuff to a backpack, I like to be able to walk my camp wherever. I don't take many pics of my kitcamp.jpg

This was what camp usually looks like, the pro trail to the left is me

This was after a pretty serious wind/rain storm...pretty darn good performance for 26 Oz

    And my pack, it's a 70L so it's never full...base weight is 18lbs (16 lbs if I'm going solo)

School bus conversions frequently start that way. Here is mine.

I like the spot. Where were you here next to the rocks? Looks like your LP is Arizona?

I grew up camping every summer but just recently within the last year started going out and going on more adventures. Especially now since I've got a truck. I've had my eye on one of these top tents. Been using a hammock and a tree which is pretty exhilarating as well.

Ooo, a skoolie! Interestingly, my wife REALLY wants to build out a school bus like this, and we've looked a little into it...highway vs. town gearing, wiring & plumbing, tall roofs...etc. How is it when towing?

It was a really fun project, and I love camping in it. It's not a speed demon however. Tops out at 65, but that's pushing it. Runs nice at 60. Tows the Tacoma pretty good considering. Going up steep grades is slow. I drive school bus for a living, and I can tell you newer busses are faster. They easily do 75+ on the highway.

Ready to get out camping! A bunch County parks camping spots are open but Wisconsin State parks for camping are closed till after Memorial Day
    (if not longer).
We just picked up our 1st new tent in at least 16 years. Last year was the 1st time camping in 14 years. Lol

    Bought it at
    Sams club

Absolutely the easiest tent I ever set up . About 2 minutes with setup ,stakes, and adding fly! take down was under 5 minutes and that was trying to get the folding right to get it back in the bag.D20A9CEB-6635-4DCA-BB3C-6422D4DA1F24.jpg
Pull it out of the bag.Flip it open and just slide the poles till they click. A03F4A02-0F43-4436-A0F2-0066259ED705.jpgwith the sky lights and the side windows closed it’s dark65BA1D1C-E7E8-42BE-AD0E-6D996F31D569.jpg
It says 6 person tent ... more like 3 with gear.
Anyway hope this thing lasts but for $99 and the ease of setting it up I’m not concerned.

Guess I'm more into "light" camping:

Actually that's my backpacking setup, and I just pulled it out for a stop at a state park campground.

Here is my setup that I built for the bed and canopy. All modular so you can pop it in and out pretty easily.

I had everything in two big rugged (looking) Rubbermaid bins, but the tops were starting to crack, couldn’t fit everything, and they were different sizes so didn’t store nicely. I replaced the two with three Plano 108qt sportsman trunks, and was able to fit all bedding into one, all shelter into the second, and kitchen into the third. Only issue was they didn’t fit between the wheel wells, or behind them. So I put together a very simple platform to get the bins above the wheel wells, and there’s plenty of room underneath for chairs and whatever else, and room at the back for our cooler and then some. Hoping to try it out July 4th weekend!

My camping gear is in the yellow dry bag--a Slingfin Portal tent with a fly and footprint, assorted stakes, Tyvek ground sheet, a Helinox Chair Zero, a Therm-a-Rest Prolite Plus sleeping pad, and a silk sleeping bag liner. My lightweight sleeping bag goes in the bow hatch. The last photo is a few minutes before a 60 mph storm hit us.
