Agree that is awesome! There are something like 600 in Montana and we have at least 2,400 running around in Mn. and more than half the moose kills come from them. But a judge sitting in DC stopped the wolf hunting here. Like he has a freaking clue. Well done.

Nice! Geese have never shown up in any numbers this year. I think they are still in CO. Ducks are here in pretty decent force at the end of the season. The last three weekends have provided for full limits each outing. Got my first redhead of the season (a hen), and even a purple-headed gadwall this past Sunday. Tomorrow will be another duck outing and then quail on Saturday.DSCN5640.jpg

That is a beautiful redhead. A lot of ducks have beauty that goes unnoticed like that random purple on the gadwall or a mature gadwall drake. I love it. Had a drake merganser land in the decoys and decided not to shoot. There really isn't anything that compares to their hood other than a wood duck. Best of luck!

I am a big admirer of the beauty in ducks. This year, I took my first Barrow's Goldeneye drake. I expected just another Common, but got quite a surprise -- what a beautiful bird. I agree about the drake Hooded Merganser. I typically get one or two each year -- usually in the early minutes where identity is never clear until retrieved. This is the one I got this year. Wood ducks are likewise pretty uncommon here, and I have only taken a couple.2015-11-25_10-40-11.jpg

Nice man. Hopefully it wasn't too messed up and you could put it on the wall. My dad was a taxidermist for a while and he mounted a drake hoodie when I was younger and enjoyed watching the experience. Congrats on the Barrow's. There have been a few killed up here as well as some people occasionally shooting an oldsquaw or a scoter. Heck, my buddy shot a banded female goldeneye two days ago so that's the first person I've met to kill a banded diver. So other than being beautiful, diver hunting can have some interesting surprises. I love it.

Congrats! Yeah the push South has been a weird one this winter. But El Nino is what she is, can say Canada let go of the birds all you want. But it is up the push of the weather. Good luck on the quail!

Strange year for sure. I am usually having to work hard and am lucky for just a few goldeneye, bufflehead, or mergansers by now. Usually, the season closes early January. But, today I'm bringing home pintails (worthy of mounting), teal, a readhead, and a goldeneye.IMG_20160122_095121.jpg DSCN5651.jpg
