    Good one!
Like @Pchop said. I've had good luck just skinning skull, bag it up, I use old feed bags and loosely tied. Throw it in a head cage (keeps varmints and other critters off or dragging it off) and just let it rot and let the maggots due the work. Then I do a short boil with hair bleaching peroxide. The stuff from beauty supply not household brown bottle. Add some arm and hammer powdered detergent but don't boil too long or the skull will come apart. Then I coat again with hair bleach gel and sit in sun and let it dry. Then you can seal with mop and glow or a matte clear spray. Also super glue all teeth from the inside at jaw bone so they won't rattle loose. Hope this helps.

Hm didn't think I could boil it with a peroxide solution. I'll have to try that out with the arm and hammer. My roommate buries his in the garden and lets nature do its work, but me being impatient didn't want to wait that long

    Nice.
From the looks of that blood puddle behind him it left a decent-sized hole.

Then you have to skin it, flesh it, etc and boil it to get rest of meat out, eyeballs, brain etc. It's harder work I think. Whatever you want to do.

Did my first Euro mount back in November. Simmered it in water with a Tblsp of Sodium Carbonate for about two hours. Scrape and pick at pieces, back in the pot, scrape and pull, repeat. Only took about 4 hours. Then pasted some hair bleach on it for an overnight, rinsed in am and let sit in the sun all day. From talking to others that have done it, you want to avoid boiling as it'll break down and destroy the cartilage. As for the mount, I needed something quick to get it off the floor and used scraps I had available. Will redo it with a larger back piece to cover completely behind the skull. Happy with it for now though.

He had a nice clean shot right in front of the shoulder. Pig didn't take more than 2 steps and he was down.

@truchador What we have always done is skin them, keep what we want and leave them on ice for about a week before we do anything with them. Constantly allowing the cooler to drain and adding fresh ice seems to do a great job. The pigs make great breakfast sausage, jerky, summer sausage etc.

Try pressure washing it next time it really speeds up the process. Also avoid anything with bleach. It will break down the skull. Use 40% cream conditioner its hydrogen peroxide based. If you want to get rid of the oily spots you can soak it in dawn dish soap. That will help

Ive always wanted to train some dogs to run coyotes. I hunt with bear and lion with them a lot, I'm sure it can't be that much different.

We hunt with several guys, most of us run older Tacoma's because they are the only trucks that can withstand the punishment we put them through.

I have not put this truck through its paces yet...Mainly because I don't want it scratched lol. Open fields, however, are fair play!

similar to what I do, I simmer in 1/4 cup of washing soda per gallon of water, let it simmer for 30 minutes scrape, simmer 30 minutes scrape and repeat at least 2 more times. Rinse with garden hose and scramble/pull out the brain cartilage. once its completely stripped of meat and cartilage I make a 50/50 paste of this quick white and 40% peroxide. cover anything you want bleached white and let it sit at room temp for 24-36hrs. Then you just rinse off the powder with a hose, just remember to wear gloves during this process as the bleach white and peroxide can burn your skin...Usually 24 is good. Both products are available at Sally beauty supply cheaper than taxidermy places and they use the same product.

Now that y'all mention it, I do believe it was a peroxide paste, not bleach. It was in a salon bottle with 40 on it iirc. Didn't think of pressure washer, but it was around 0* when I was doing it so that would have been fun:rofl:. Longest part was cleaning the brain cavity. And that smell... :anonymous:

yep prob like the second pic. The first pic is of the bleach white powder its in a plastic bag.

The brain once its simmered i scramble it with a wire or metal skewer then rinse with the garden hose. Theres usually one big chunk that has some muscle and cartilage that I pull out with some needle nose then the rest just rinses out. the final thing I do once its all dried is spray with some antibacterial clear coat. I spray inside the brain cavity and usually the stink is gone.

You can also stick a screw driver in the ear canal and snap it off it will give you better access to the brain.
