Quail hunting in south GA.

 

Caught this tom today and a friend filled his tag. Not the one from yesterday, he’s still out there.

 

FOund a tom and a female running together today. After we found the track we had to wait till daylight to run it and while we were sleeping they crossed again 100 yards away.

I wish we could upload videos easier, when we found the freshest track the dogs rigged it like a bear.

Both were treed and freed and probably back together right now.

My friends caught up to that big tom we caught the other day. I’m on vacation so I didn’t make it..

 

Damm that thing is huge actually lives up to the name Mountain LION. Just imagine how many deer/elk he's dispatched in his lifetime

 

They definitely don’t grow this big around here often.

 

What a blast was today was with my old man.

 

my son got one in mtns. this mornin. 10 degrees it was drivin a doe. weird rut this november. 2nd rut now they are hammerin.

 

Nice buck. Is that muzzleloader or rifle?

 

late muzzleloader. they manage their land and let quite few go that size. but he shot it. itold him to be proud of any deer u harvest. been gettin a stud on camera but someone bumpd him. never got pic simce

My dogs first double point on wild quail. I’m addicted.

 

thanks for the likes. im in my 50’s and didnt hunt hard. had some heart issues but my two boys have become excellent ethical hunters. just had double heart ablasion fri. hope to be back at it next year. this was rifle. like a mile drag out

Forgive me for my lack of knowledge, how do you go about releasing them without being mauled to shit? I can't imagine a way around getting attacked, even after freeing them. Awesome pics BTW! Love the mountain lions!

 

A 10lb set of nuts, a catch pole or slip noose, and a big sheet of plywood is how I've seen it done.

 

A sturdy stick shaped like a Y, push it against their chest and stretch them out.

 

27 inch red out of Saint George Island, Florida. In a rainstorm. This was one of four that we caught that night all in the slot.

 

So basically pushing them back as far as you can to stay out of reach, interesting. Still takes this:
