    it was dialed in at 100 yards i was putting 3 rounds within 4 inches of the bullseye and that was on september 8 and i shot the deer on september 17 2008 so unless the gun scope was hit betewwn that time in my dads liberty safe idk what happened

    i didnt make that statement in regards to how you shot actually..............i was making a point that if you know your setup....go for it.:)

    but that leads me to ask...since you said the scope was way off....where were you aiming??

    my 870 is iron sights..for now

    my muzzleloader is tru glow sights:eek:

    getting there....
    i like scopes and iron sights.....scope a little more........that way, if the shot is gonna be a good distance, i can look around to see if anymore are in the area. i like iron sights on smaller caliber rifles like my .22 and my .410........but i definitely roll with scopes on my .270 and my .30/.30.

    well..i got my 870 last year, and I wasnt sure if i liked it or not..I used it and finally patterend it this season. Im looking to get the true glow sights for the 870, but seems i cant do it without putting a riffled barrel on it. I may just wind up putting a scope on it..I have a few extras laying around.

    try walmart for the tru-glo type sights man. i got some for my mossberg 88 maverick field barrel.....came in a pack of 5..........one for my shotgun....4 others for different makes. makes a good difference in the early,low light am.

    i have the vent rib on my 870..sights wont fit. I did however try the magnetic ones i found, but im not sure if it was me, or the sights, but the gun wouldnt pattern right. I took it off, and the gun patterned fine now:D

    hell man....just change the choke tube and you can use some slugs for smoothbores. i have shot slugs outta my mossberg, with a modified choke, and its been pretty accurate up to about 35 yards or so. i now have a mossberg 500 slug gun, so i'll be using that alot.
