Guess it all depends on what level roast you use, but the medium gave a good similar color to previous deer taken in that area.

Was a easy quick process for sure. And you can always sand it off.

Thats cool, ours out here are more like golden oak stain. I have used espresso stain and wiped off the excess and its really close to what we have here. I dont know what the long term color change will do but I can always re-apply as need I guess. Thanks for the tip, I may try it on one sometime if it needs it.

That’s how both our elk and deer are. The ones that rub they’re velvet off in the sage brush flats are light brown while the ones that rub up on the pine ridges are a really pretty chocolate.

    No pictures though...

Found this track right before daylight this morning.
    A5223B0C-3A39-400A-B258-323322D4F663.jpg
It was head to the river, 150 yards away and I didn’t know if it went up, down or across it, and I didn’t wanna turn the dogs loose if it went across. So I decided walk down the track to be sure, as I walked down it the cat jumped up out of its bed and ran away from me.

It ended up running up the river and crossing a small bridge. I started it where it left the other side.

It hurt it’s foot some how, I dunno if had been in a trap at one point or what.

I ended up treeing for the cat for the first time 300 yard away from where I started it, no surprise. It jumped when I got to the tree and swam across the river and after I gathered the dogs to go to the other side it came back across. It took me a minute to figure it out but ended up getting on it again, catching it a second time where it decided to stay.

And I got done and Home with plenty of time to make it to class.

Ah gotcha. I think i saw a post in your build thread one time with a snowplow in the background. I did some cyber stalking and googled the county name on the side of the plow and it came up Utah.

On topic, you do some incredible stuff. Keep it up.

Here's a few young pigs we trapped in north Louisiana this past year (layin in the chevy I traded for my '17 taco). With one corral trap, we've been catchin ~30 pigs a year on 120 acres. Its not too terribly overrun (yet!). I've only been in the trapping game for the last few years, learning as I go. Its a ton of fun, especially if you can catch an invasive pest species that disturbs other wildlife. Besides... Free meat on the hoof!

I’m not too familiar at all with cats.
How can you tell it’s a Tom? Just by the sheer size, or do they have different pad styles between sex?
