Did some kayak fishing caught a bunch of fluke and then my buddy caught the 36 inch bluefish on cut bunker surf fishing earlier this week. While he was reeling it in, my rod went off but never got the hook set.

Finally got this guy back. My first whitetail ever. I'm sure if we let him grow he'd be a stud this coming season, but my buddy that took me out the first time wanted me to have a nice trophy and he was the best of the bunch that we saw. I'm forever grateful and, now, forever a hunter.

Now I need to know where to mount him :)

looks like they didnt get all the hair around the antlers. The nice thing about the euros they dont take up much room.

well you know if you would have passed on it, someone else might have taken it. Thats how I look at it.

Working with your neighbors to keep the doe to buck ratio in line, thinning out really mature bucks, and proper supplentation can greatly help boost nice buck numbers. Genetics will limit you to a certain extent, but letting those nice mature bucks breed and improve the gene pool will greatly help.

we manage pretty hard. in game program where we can shoot does all season. they tell us how many and we have our own check in tablet to check in our deer. save jaw bones for game commision. these are mountain deer. never seen a cornfield. so genetics and age are key
