Little bones to make for trouble, but meat is delicious! I quartered legs and mid section. Tossed rib cage. Took a knife and ringed about every 1/4-1/2 inch. Put in crock for about 3 hours with black pepper. About a 1/4 inch of olive oil in the frying pan. Rolled each piece in flour. Fried each side for 2-3 minutes. It was gooood.

The fox skwirls get a lil longer parboil than the greys
U make gravy with them? That’s big around here, some of the old timers crack the skulls with a teaspoon....

I tried hitting up @neegdogdig for some California style squirrel recipes but he eats em the same way we do lol

Shooting immature bucks, good way to dilute the gene pool.

For trophy hunters its always bad to shoot "immature". For meat hunters its about a tasty animal.

    I’m gonna, I
I mean if I was in a LE unit I probably wouldn’t, but in a general I’d most likely take it, unless I know there’s something bigger.

You don’t shoot bucks for meat, does are much more tender anyway. It’s about wildlife management, and keeping the doe/buck ratio in line. It helps genetics, deer population, and as a bonus you will see more healthier and bigger bucks. It’s why you always see people who don’t know what they’re talking about shooting little bucks all the time because that’s all they see, along with a overpopulated doe count. Probably also the reason you have a pic of a really immature 8 as your profile pic. I’ve probably shot more doe than many in here.

There are big deer in Idaho, I’ve hunted there. Take a wildlife mgmt course, or read about it, it’s not an opinion. It’s interesting stuff.

Shooting does hurts the population more than shooting small bucks.

    Specially in Utah.

And not everyone can get a tag for a doe anyway unless you have some land to get depredations tags or hunt during extended archery.

I might be wrong but didn’t the UDWR start a couple antlerless deer tags this year also?
