That’s so awesome, I’ve been dragging my 11 year old GSD / Husky mix with me, he’s got zero skills I just get a kick out of him watching me clean birds and rabbits. I took him out at the start of the season when I was just working on an old road; we had two spruce grouse cross our paths and my old pup was super excited, we actually chased them around for a half hour or so since he was so keen, they never flushed though and since I didn’t have the shotgun we let them be. That first experience gave me hope that he might be naturally good at flushing birds but he’s since proven me quite wrong and at his age I’m not going to bother training him, he just gets to come along for the experience.

Sounds like your "bird" dog is actually a deer dog. Good for you man, your buddy is going to get the word out and she probably has a new name in town as the one to call to find the errant deer.
