Well no real pic at least yet. But have seen some snow geese, though that was kinda cool seeing this far south.

I wish that cold front would hurry up and get here. I thought the deer would be moving this morning ahead of the front coming in. Didn't see a freakin thing. Left and all the cows in the fields were all laying down, too. That's usually a good indication of what the deer are doing. I'll go try it again this evening, I guess. Think the front is supposed to get here tonight at some point. Not as cold as they were saying it was going to be though :(

You can have it. Its been just above 0 degrees for the last few days. Doesn't get better till after the weekend. Which sucks, means I am pheasant, grouse and partridge hunting in this shit, which is the worst. Not to mention its been snowing to boot.

Lol I have never seen them in person only in videos.
Yeah me and dad though same thing and like you nothing but snow geese. Don't thing I could hunt those with a muzzleloader... We staying warm in the truck right now go back out later. Tomorrow is going to be a little colder so maybe they will move.

Rough day yesterday, hunted El Centro and couldn't hit any of the doves flying. My buddy got a limit in the first hour. Then we started walking fields and canals for pheasant with no luck, so we headed to some ponds for some jump shooting and I knocked 1 duck down but the dog was unable to retrieve it, later in the day we rolled up on another pond with about 15 Mallards sitting in it. Me and a buddy each knocked down one but ran into the same situation. Brush was way to thick around the pond and we spent close to an hour trying to get back to where they dropped with no luck. Guess yesterday just wasn't my day.

Fuck dude, that is a rough day.

I HATE losing birds. The pheasant around here? You have to hit them with all 3 shots, and run up, smack 'em with a ball peen hammer to bag them. Very hardy birds. The partridge and grouse are a bunch of bitches compared to them.

I killed a partridge with 1 bb out of a shell. Plucked it and there was 1 bb hole in the middle of its back, that was it, nothing else. That thing folded up like it got clubed by a 9 iron. One pheasant would kick the shit out of an entire brace of partridge or grouse.

Chuck Norris pheasant here man. Seriously.

That's hilarious. All I had yesterday for duck was 2 3/4 BB so all the birds I hit they folded but it was literally some of the thickest stuff I've walked through trying to derive them. Even the dog couldn't get up and out of the water because the hills were so steep too. All in all pretty fun day, at lest I know I can hit them. Last season I only bagged 1 drake widgeon so hopefully this seasons nicer to me. Started the day off at my buddies house at 3AM and didn't get home until almost 8 PM

12 hours in the deer stand today. Two of these were chasing a doe. Couldn't let that stand.

I heard them howling like crazy this morning right around sunrise. Creepy. They never did come in to where I was, though.

My dad missed a good 6 or 8 this morning. He was sitting about 100 yards behind me. It came running in running a doe at full speed. Said it was probably 16-18" wide.

Amazing, ours look like wolves compared to that. Definitely because of the weather, just kind of shocking how skinny it looks.

Ours have a coat that is insanely thick right now.

Nice job though. Bow or rifle?

To cold to eve think about going out right now.

Cut the SD trip a few short due to weather, cold is bad enough but the wind....

First week was Navy week all 3 of us are retired Navy. Retired Air Force showed up for 3 days this last weekend. Lots of waterfowl moving South
    [IMG]

The CDR being from Spearfish, SD went out 2 mornings and got his limit of ducks for us to cook, they were good enough that I am considering getting back into waterfowl hunting again.

Pheasant numbers are down from the loss of CRP. But it is still one of the best places to hunt pheasants. We pinch ditches and hunt public land too but have access to some private land at times
    [IMG]

The Setter isn't going to work out for me, he doesn't fit my hunting style or the people that I hunt with. After a week of him getting beat up I started leaving him behind to recover. The Admiral shared his weim with me and handled him while I shot my limit. One day she went on point after I had my limit so we flushed it. 3 shots, 3 birds in less than half an hour is special
    [IMG]

To us the dogs are the most important part of bird hunting
    [IMG]

On Tuesday we drove 500 miles round trip so John could pick up a new pup, the weather had turned to crap
    [IMG]

But it was worth it and he picked the same one I would have
    [IMG]

Already looking forward to next year but with luck I can still burn the 5 days left on my license this year.

Thanks. Rifle; two 'yotes chased a doe up a draw toward my stand. I barked and this one stopped and I shot it at about 100 yds. Never witnessed coyotes chasing an adult deer before. Pretty crazy. Saw 4 different coyotes on opening day - they're thick this year.

Thats awesome. Can't wait to get a dog. I think in the spring.

Yeah, limiting out in a short time is special. I did that on grouse one day. Walked 100yrds from the truck, flushed about 15 birds. Pew pew pew, 3 down. Walked back to the truck and went back to work. Best lunch hour I ever had.

I have seen 2 coyotes chasing 3 maybe 4 deer across some fields. would have tried to shot but the deer where running full bore and yotes not to far behind. they where probably 300 yards out, probably do able with a 243 but to hard to do with them moving.

Well, found some trash bags on the side of the road by our property this morning. There where 5 bull elk heads and 11 buck heads in them. Antlers had been cut off all of them. Needless to say the game warden got a call. No way that is a legal harvest.

This stud got taken on our place yesterday.
