This guy came in last night & scared off the does while I was trying to sort the does from the button bucks. Still no new venison in the freezer this year...

Was out hunting this afternoon since it was hot. 30F, no wind, sunny. Beauty of a day. Actually broke out in a sweat.
So I spied a huge group of pheasant in a field. Hiked down across a canal, the ice is easily 2' thick. Got right up on them by staying below the bank, shot one shell and the gun jammed!!! FUCK!!! They all took off, while I was clearing it. So I hiked to the grass row between these two fields and boom one jumps up, I knocked him down over the open snow, ran across another canal (I was hunting next to the Missouri River), up the other side and the fucker is quartering to the grass it was in at a full run. I didn't want to shoot it again so I took off at a sprint to grab him, which I did, wrung his neck and stuffed him in my vest. Kept hunting for another 45 minutes, cut back across the canal to my truck and started wading through about 5' tall cat tails, as you know, you can't see shit in that stuff, especially your feet. So I'm trudging through when I feel something hit me in the back, I whipped around and didn't see anything, I was like "what the FUCK was that!!".

Kept trudging through and about 10' later, WHAM!!!!! I am being beat the fuck up on my back, I whipped around again and the thing is still on my back beating me!! WTF is this thing.

About 2 very long seconds later I realize it's the pheasant in my vest.

Damn near shit myself! I thought it was a bobcat or some shit.

I told you guys these birds are tough. I wrung his neck again. That thing was VERY much alive..

Like the fact that you saved all the meat by a nicely placed neck shot

Thanks. She was feeding directly at me so I took the head-down head shot & it came out the neck. It was the shot I had, so I took it. She never took a step. Normally I'm a boiler room kind of guy, but it worked.

Thanks. It's an FN PBR XP that has been cut to 20" & threaded for my AAC 762SD. Vortex PST 2.5-10x on top. After struggling for a long time with marginal (1-2 MOA) accuracy, I tried super light bullets and it loves them. So I push a 110 gr TTSX as fast as TAC powder will allow and I get touching groups at 150y.

Isn't that crazy expensive to get licensed for? Or are there different laws in your state?

No license - just a per-suppressor $200 tax and some paperwork.
