It's how automakers tier their pricing. GM would rather you pay $5k extra so you can get into a V8 that gets close or better MPG than a mid size. Assuming a V6 will inherently get better MPG than a V8 is old-school thinking. You pay for more MPG tech in full size trucks.

I see the bottom of your display center says hold to reset! Mine doesn't have that option. I have to kill my truck and restart for the trip mpg to reset. I have a 16 Trd off road

When I bought the truck in October, I was getting around 17-18, then it started dropping, 15-16, once I hit the 4000 miles, it started going up, now I haven't been under 20 in a while, so yeah, must of broke in, and I have a heavy foot!!!

Im in the same boat. I haven't been able to crack 15.5 with 1000 miles on the truck now. All tires are at 34lbs when warm. I have the Tonneau cover. I live in an area that has short but moderately steep grades. I mean don't get my wrong I am able to go about 100-125 miles further on less gas than my Tundra. I wonder what the lift guys are getting??! 12?

I average anywhere between 15-16 mpg with a 3" lift and 275 70 18 tires. I also took off my lower wind diffuser on the front bumper because my tires were rubbing it but I've been thinking about trimming it and reinstalling it to see if mpg improves. Last time I towed I was towing a 20ft trailer with a 2015 rzr 1000 and a 2015 sportsman 850 I averaged 6-7 mpg. I could almost watch the gas needle move. I don't do to much highway driving but it seems to average the same on the highway as it does on backroads

Mine has 1100 miles and I get about 20 average. I climb a lot of hills and drove a 6000 foot pass. I expect a little better 1-2 mpg after 5k.

I just went over 1k last week, The first 900 miles were the worst on fuel. I swear every time I turned on my truck the needle would move, it was so annoying. I wouldn't do any crazy driving and did not do any hills or anything just flat streets. I would get about 230 a tank if that. the last two fills have been amazing, for some reason my gas and mpg and the fuel gage started becoming really friendly. amazed on how much I get per tank and gallon, gained about 100 miles on last fill.

Where do you get that 3 panel gas mileage icon? The one that says "Fuelly", then a picture of your truck, then the average mpg.

Got 24.6 yesterday driving from outside Chattanooga to Atlanta and back. I filled the tank 2 miles before I got on the interstate so it reset the mph gauge. It's about 230 miles round trip and is gently rolling for much of the trip--few hills of any note. I was on interstate the whole way with cruise control at 70mph on the way down but off on the way back. I got off the interstate for 3 stops of several miles each. I've got a 2016 SR5 V6 with double doors and long bed with a bed mat and no cover. I'm pretty happy with that. My old Ranger would get 25 mpg on that trip back in the days of the 55 mph speed limit that I'd bump to about 60 mph.

I've been lurking on this site since fall--I've really benefited from the various threads. Thanks all!

I make this trip in the opposite direction and get about 22.6 MPG with my 2013 Double cab Automatic and three adults riding with me.
