I'm pretty happy with mpg so far. I drove 300 miles yesterday on my first tank. Mostly highway and freeway, cruising between 50 and 65, some construction work flagman waiting, plus urban stop and go through San Francisco. The first 150 miles I averaged 23.7 mpg (US). On the 150 mile return I had a large Tepui RTT mounted plus an awning along the side, and I think I drove a little faster, and tank average dropped to 21.6. 4WD DCSB TRD OR, auto trans. Truck has 5K miles so I assume it's at least somewhat broken in. I'm also fine with the AT, but I think this motor would be really fun with the 6MT.

That's been my experience. Negligible increase from 2nd gen. This checks out with fuelly too

Yes, I was using the cruise control. If i tap the gas pedal it will up shift.

I always run good gas in the truck also.

    Not complaining just facts.

I'm not far from you at all. Almost bought my truck from Deluca in ocala but got a better deal in Gainesville.

My tank average is 21. On the highway i seem to average 23 and see up to 25regularly. I do a lot of driving in the woods too and sometimes see as low as 17. Never lower unless I'm pulling or hauling.

Also I removed that air dam in the front a while ago and haven't noticed any decrease myself... I noticed a small increase actually... But i also added a new exhaust at the same time.

I'm tempted to put the air damn back on and see what happens... It just looks better workout it though.

Seattle (sea level) to Yakima via I-90 Snoqualmie Pass (3000 ft) and back -- 21.9 mpg, with less than 500 mi total on the odometer. That's the same, or a little better, than I get with my 2003 Ranger 4.0L 2WD on the same trip, so no complaints from me. If the Tacoma's mileage gets better at the 1000-1500 mile mark, as many are reporting, I'll really be impressed.

Reset the trip meter driving home. Distance is actually 11.1 miles but forgot to reset before leaving work. When I don't reset the MPG the meter dials out to 16.2 on average city stop and go driving through the work week. Medium to slightly heavy on the gas pedal.image.jpg

75 mile road trip 60-65 very flat .Trying to break it in. Very light on the gas pedal, like an egg under my foot. No cruise control on. Very happy. No problem shifting from R/D or D/R. My limited drives wonderful. Friend took the picture off the highway.image.jpg

Chiming in because I think the Fuelly site has changed and this can be a little hard to find.

HOW TO ADD FUELLY TO YOUR SIGNATURE

    1. Log in to Fuelly.
    2. Go to your TRUCK's page. Should be listed on the left side menu with a picture of a key beside it.
    3. In the lower right corner there will be a "Share Your MPG" box. Click on "View all badges and stuff you can share". Then just copy the link of your choice and paste it into your TW signature.

    Hope this helps someone!!

Most people on TW say the new engine is "gutless" and a big downhill move for Toyota. I want to hear from this crowd, how are you feeling with the engine? Those posting fuel numbers, are you trying to increase the fuel mileage or are you trying to drive regularly? (I say "try" to drive regularly because having an MPG readout probably makes you want to "play the game," as I call it)

22.7 mpg on this last tank, best trip was a 17 mile stretch which included surface streets, hills, and about 5 miles of freeway - over 28 mpg.

But my daily commute to work (no freeway) averages between 20 and 24 mpg, dependent on traffic. This little 4cyl is really waking up as I get used to the mapping.

Nothing fancy, yet. Weathertech mats front/back + their mud guards, some reflective striping and custom carpets on the storage bin lids underneath the jump seats.
Mixed city & some country roads. No real "highway" driving.
