After one year of mixed driving my TRD Off-road has settled in at 21.8 mpg. Very happy with it since I have no issues to date. It fascinates me how the various magazine reviews have beaten this vehicle to death. And rating the Ridgeline as better is a joke. It starts at almost 30K and is not a real truck. One CR reviewer even said the Tacoma rides like a truck. Well I think it's a Trick. Yet, all of them say its most reliable. Clearly they hate the Tacoma. Yep, it's an excellent Truck and my MPG is spot on for my needs. Sorry for the ranting! ✌️

    ^^^^ anyone?!

Got this today, highest I've ever gotten. Coincidentally I had the TSB for shifting enhancement done yesterday. 2016 4x2 limited, cruise controlling between 60 and 70, 65 degrees out, flat Texas highway.

I averaged 12.2L/100km today, mix of highway and city, with stop and go traffic. No lift, just 265/70 R17 KO2's

This weekend I drove from sea level to Truckee (about 6000 ft) including crossing Santa Cruz Mountains, east bay hills by Sunol, plus Donner Pass, lots of heavy stop-go traffic leaving the Bay Area then speed limit+ (65-75 mph) the rest of the way. Computer average was 20.0 mpg over about 250 miles. On Monday I filled up at Lake Tahoe level and came home. Had to cross Brockway and Donner Pass, but of course mostly downhill, but I was still impressed with the mpg. Averaged 29.1 over the first hundred miles to Sacramento, and my trip average was 25.1 mpg when I got home. Again, speed limit+. Cumulative average since my last unprompted trip meter reset (grrr) about 4000 miles ago is now 22.1 mpg. Winter gas, mostly highway but a fair amount of short around town stuff too. I think I'll stop paying attention to mileage now ...

I just took nearly the same trip (I live in Sacramento) and my TRD Off-Road gets 15MPG at best on highway with cruise at 68MPH. Ugh....

Idk if its me or something wrong with my tacoma. I am only getting 16.1 mixed highway and street not going about 80mph. Two tanks in since its a new car. My tire pressure is at 33 its a trd off road. Should it be higher? Would like some feedback.

....^^^... I get from a low of about 15.0 in town to a high of 25.1 (250 mile trip average) on the highway ... my best results in town are in "S Mode" and don't let it go into 5th or 6th gear and lug around. I only use 6th on flat highways.

When you learn & study the habits of the transmission, you can tweak the mileage ... it took me until now (9,800 miles) to get the hang of it.

Give it a couple more tanks. The more it breaks in the less fuel it takes. As the gears polish themselves, the rings seat in you get less parasitic drag from parts and more power / efficiency.

It will get better and then stabilize.

When you put it in sport mode the number represents the highest gear allowed so for example if it's in s4 it won't use the 2 OD gears aka 5th and 6th

I get anywhere from 17.5-19 on a tank. It will stay on the lower end the more short trips and city driving I do. I personally think the trucks sweet spot is 55mph...Which sucks because 1. I'm not 100 years old 2. I'm not from South Texas 3. Avg hwy speeds around me are 75+

Averaging 17 MPGs with a mix of mountain driving (what goes up, comes down) and city driving. I'm getting around 16 when strictly driving in the city.

I'm on 265/75/16 tires and I have a Leer XR cap with crossbars on the back. Plus some Predator steps. For all that extra weight, maybe not that bad on I-5 and mountain passes?

As much as I want to show off my truck in the city, I'm coming to terms with commuting more into downtown with my wife, riding my bike and taking the bus to work.

When the sun comes back out and it dries up, I'll probably drive even less. In the summer and spring I usually bike to the light rail, stop at the skate park then ride my bike downtown.

TRDOR SB. After a year I'm averaging about 17 mpgs in mixed driving. On clear open highways cruise control at 65 I can barely see 21mpg. Stock tires. I added a canopy recently and I think it cost me 1mpg over the factory tonneau.

Only 1300 miles into it. DCLB TRDOR. Put a shell on it 1 week after purchase. Spend 60% highway, 40% city. averaging right around 20 mpg for tank average. On the highway, I drive 80 mph here in Utah (I15 and I80) and can get 20ish pretty easily. We'll see how it changes from here as I put more miles on it. So far it's as good as my 2003 TRDOR 4-door 1st gen in terms of mileage, but a whole lot more comfortable.
