One thing I consistently see is most people get less than the rated 23mpg highway. Even me, 22 average highway under no winds and flat roads at 70mph.

And before people start saying you need to go slower, my 2013 Taco, 2014 Camry, 2015 Taco and 2016 Tundra all got more than advertised highway mpg. Just not this 2017 Taco.

And yet my worst tank is 18.5mpg.

Been tracking at 20.2 for a mix of in town and HWY commute, but actually got 24+ on a road trip this past weekend to and from Austin TX....took a photo just above 23 (this is when I stopped due to wife brow beating about discussing Taco mpg)

this, for the first 11 miles of my commute I average around 18.5mpg, and by the time I get to work (23.7 miles) I'm almost always at 21-22

Short tank fill cuz I needed mower gas at just under 1/4 tank at 336 miles. 21.97 mpg. My usual commute 45-65 mph curvy hilly roads and in town traffic. One of these days I'm gonna break 22 I tell ya. One of these days...

Ive pushed 23-24 when going ~55 MPH, then MPGs started dropping by like 0.5 for every 1 MPH increase. So around 65 MPH, Im around 19-20 and by 75 MPH, Im eeking out maybe 15-16 MPG. Still better than the FJ by around 2-3 mpg, but that one had full time 4wd and no vortex things on the mirrors (and more low end torque), so Im still not seeing how "advanced" this engine and truck design is supposed to be. Both MT.

Last I checked I was getting 19 mpg out of a 2.7 DC with bigger tires, plus I usually hover around 2.5-3k rpm

Kind of surprised, anyone know if gas went to summer blend already?

Castle Rock, to DIA, to CO Springs was 23.5mpg averaging 70mph

Probably not. Winter gas isn't as significant as many try to claim, maybe 3%. Outdoor temperature is way more a factor.

I posted details in another thread, but here is the data for my truck since new.

    i6d0ra_21bb57e4dd1e42f2ce2bf6eda3c75ba098abb5e1.gif

I checked the real numbers for the last tank, and it was within .1 mpg of the display.

Green (Best) is the first 2k miles, and yellow (Average) is the last 4k miles.

This is the best trip I've ever had.

Best average per tank is 18.9.

Average since I've owned the truck is 17.9.

I haven't had 19+ for a tank more than once or twice. Its 16-18.5 pretty consistently.

I don't have to Econ function on the T4R but the Camry had it tho I've never used it. How is it that the "best" is lower than the "average"? Is it two different time periods?

Yeah, Average is currrent, and Best is best completed. I accidentally hit the reset button right around 2k miles.

Maybe its cause im in CA or something but im getting way less mpg than all of you. I drive 2017 trd off road v6 auto dbl cab long bed and getting about 15-17mpg. Given most my driving is in town still seems pretty low to me. I dont have a lead foot or anything like that either. 17 is a good tank with more freeway miles for the record

I think the gas mileage on these trucks is very sensitive to throttle position changes. The more you are on/off the pedal and stop and go the worse mileage they get. The 2.7 seems to be less sensitive to it than the 3.5 is and I think that's why we are seeing drastic differences in its mileage. I'd bet most of the 3.5 drivers who are getting 22+ mpg are primarily highway or low mph local driving with few stops.
