Tharris, you think it will be off by more than 6%? Math when I checked it last time was less than 5%, but I was relying on when the mileage/check gas light came on so a bit rough on the inputs. Should be closer on a bigger tank I'd hope...

It was a bold statement because it was all in bold type for some reason.

I'm not sure I follow... are you just talking about the accuracy of the trucks' displayed tank mpg?

Since I have filled mine completely the last 5 or 6 tanks mine has been within 1% (worst was ~0.6%, I think).

Got ya'! I thought you questioned how accurate the displayed tank MPG is... I believe someone else had questioned it earlier. If its close I am killing it on my commutes! I left my phone home one day and took a different route this morning that was less miles. I had a bad day where I was in more stop and go traffic due to a wreck at 27.8. I guess I won't complain for a 4dr 4wd truck though. I am really curious to compare the fill up number to the computer though. I am sitting at 307 on the tank and its showing about half full, but comp is saying 180 to empty (487)?

After learning what wheel turn out difference is, I'm getting 17mpg with 3" lift and 33" E rated tires. Can't complain. I thought I was getting in the 16s.

There has to be some degree of lawsuit avoidance with how toyota sets up that DTE reading. It must ignore the last few gallons, just to keep the morons safe.

My '16 TRD Sport DCLB 4x4 just recently started averaging better than 20mpg. That's after one year and about 20,000 miles. I don't know if it took that long for the motor to break in.. Or if my driving habits have changed. But from day 1up until about a few months ago I was averaging 18.5 overall.

That sounds about right... ~100 each quarter, plus ~100 above the full mark.

If you are getting ~30 you could easily approach 600.

Plus, there is about 4 gallons of capacity that no one uses... that is, about 2 gallons after "please refuel" and 2 gallons after first pump shut-off (completely topped off).

Cool pic but what are your numbers after a full tank? All but one of those pictures seem to have been taken on brand new tanks of gas.

Yes, these are screen shots from when I hit the button to shut the engine off the summary page comes up. These are all on the same tank, commutes in to work. I am close to 1/4 of a tank on the gauge and 400+ miles on the odometer reading. I've taken 5 trips around town now running errands on the tank. Looks like I'll make 500+ on the tank, not sure about 600+.

I have a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport DCSB 4 X 4 that I bought new in December 2015 and it's bone stock. I set up an Excel file to keep track of any repair and/or maintenance, the expenses if any, and the fuel mileage. I live in a suburban/rural area so there's not really a lot of "stop and go" driving or very heavy traffic. In my normal every day driving my overall average is between 22.5 and 23.5 MPG. While on vacation on the road I averaged up to 27 mpg, my best while driving in the plains, to 18 mpg while in the mountains. Speed limits were anywhere between 70 to 80 mph on vacation to 35 - 70 mph around home.

Numbers are pretty freaking close! I actually was surprised based on all the discussion how the comps are inaccurate for MPG. Maybe some have experienced something different? I will say Sunday pulled my MPG down running around town or I would have been 28.8 or better...

Un 25k miles, I've never averaged over 20mpg and I have tracked every single drop of fuel since the truck had 4 miles on it. See my fuelly. Factory wheels/ tires and I drive like a grandpa generally.

I'm going to post again. 20.3 at 29000 miles.

I just got new Cooper ST Maxx and I assume it might go down a little

That is my commute, one way. About 43 miles @ about 27 mpg.

That's a little pulse and glide, average speed about 65-70mph.

All stock Pro at 30 psi cold, 34 hot.

I drive around town a lot as well and do much worse there. About 400 miles to the tank as well.
