If you are running 33s your speedometer and odometer are probably not accurate unless you corrected for that.

I can never get those high mpg's. I'm averaging 18.1 to 19.1 mixed driving on highways and locally. I have only gotten 22.1 once driving like an old lady on the highway exclusively. I can get 20 mpg on the highway most times. I drive 65 to 75 mph. Easy on the gas at all times. I have a 2016 TRD double cab 4x4 six cylinder with a 6 speed manual. The manual has a higher rear and is rated at slightly lower mpg than the auto but it will smoke the auto in the 1/4 mile. However mpg and top end is better with the automatic. Then again I've read that the rev limiter won't let the TRD go over 117 mph. I've yet to test that out and doubt I ever will.
I bought a truck not a race car and I'm satisfied with the power and performance. It will pull me up our local 9% grades here in northwestern Ct until my ears pop. Good enough.
I enjoy my truck. It's black with tinted widows throughout, black running board and black tonneau cover with 17 inch stock rims and of course the chrome exhaust tip.
I think it's a real mean looker. It pulls away from the light with gusto. ( but first gear is very low and requires a quick as possible shift into second on up on the slowest shifting vehicle I've ever owned. )
Still I rarely push it. I'm happy.
Here we needed a full sized vehicle plus four wheel drive and the occasional truck so this TRD fit the bill for us.
Best wishes to all my Tacoma brothers and sisters

You are getting basically the same mpg as me with mixed driving. I have the same vehicle but the TRD with six speed manual.

New tank distance record for me at 474.5 miles. MPG was 25.0 real, 24.4 showing on computer. took just under 19 gallons to fill.

Yeah, I easily get upper 20's commuting and I have on a couple trips been over 30! I checked the comp vs gas to mileage and it adds up fairly close. More accurate than I would have guessed, especially with the number of people who dispute the comps mpg numbers.

I average 24+ typically, though right now I noticed I am just under 24. Again as 7r41lbr34k3r said, if I take it easy and don't accelerate into stopped traffic and keep in around 60+ I will be high 20's on most commutes of about 30 miles one way.

Here is a couple weeks of commuting with a few around town trips.

NOTE IT IS 28.4 MPG from a full tank. Pretty impressive for a 4dr 4wd truck! Yeah I like the 4.0 engine a bit better matched with the transmission, but overall if this truck holds up as well as my previous OR it will be the better truck. Time will tell...

Since going to 285/70/17 Open Country RT's i noticed my MPG drop to high 18's to low 19's (adjusted). If I have to do any prolonged city driving however, it really drops (not surprising)

I get right at 21 with the combined driving commute to work, less with more city driving. I did a 120 mile round trip of all highway miles running around 70 mph last weekend, 24.9 there, 24.7 back.... I'll take that in a midsized 4wd truck.

The truck can definitely do it, it's just that few have the patience/care to experience it for themselves. I could regularly get upper 28's on the way into work (67mi w/ 500ft net downhill), and about 24-25 on the way home on the same route. But, now I have to drive faster since the NE Extension on the turnpike has increased the speed limit from 55 to 70 over a 15 mile segment that was under heavy construction. Lately it has been more like 26 in, and 24 back. This is after mods that changed aerodynamics, and weight (+300lb so far).

Mobtown OR sliders are going on next week, so I'm curious to see how much of an effect they have. In the end, I don't care really ... it's just that I tend to pay attention to details that most do not.

I haven't been using cruise control yet on my new 17 TRD or and with half City and half highway driving haven't dropped much below 20.5 get about 21 to 22 on the highway.

I've found cruise control significantly reduces my gas mileage from typical driving. I pulled a lightweight trailer/boat about 1,000 miles this summer and the difference between using cruise vs my foot was about 4-5 mpg! Just a guesstimate based on a few hundred miles using it.

Did 380 mile round trip, through Allegheny mountains, between 50-70mph, in ECT mode the whole time, on up hills shift to S for the obvious reasons. I am a bone stock SR5. averaged 22.8 MPG, I get just under that at 21.2 in Pittsburgh city driving according to display.

As expected, I'm not getting that great of gas mileage overall in my TRD OR DCLB, but that is mainly due to my commute.

About 8 miles straight of city driving which takes me about 30-35 mins. I'm getting around 20 mpg on the commute there and about 14mpg on the way home (uphill/downhill and worse traffic).

When I do get to do strictly (50-70 mph) highway driving, I'm getting between 22-26 mpg which I obviously can't complain about.
