I don't even know if it will work on mine

My odo isn't digital it's manual

Also if I make this mod I might be a traitor and not allowed In Poverty spec :)

In 30 years I want to take my poverty spec to queen Mary Japanese show and show it off :D

Adding a tach would disqualify me

    Lol

But having a trip meter would make it so nice knowing how many miles a tank is getting
Now I have to do high level math since I don't have a trip meter

    Lol

Haha! I get the trip thing. My first one didn't have it either.

Your odometer is actually electronically driven even though it has an old school mechanical display. Toyota stopped with cable driven units in mid 97. All clusters 97-04 are interchangeable within the same cylinder count.

Garage queen at the moment: '98, 4wd, 5speed, 135k miles, bench seats. Only factory option was AC and the cold weather package.

Added: Rostra cruise control, factory intermittent wipers, factory CD radio, factory clock, cheapo fog lights, OEM air deflector, aftermarket hitch, nerf bars

Otherwise completely stock but is going to need a clutch pretty soon.

I take boring parts in base models as a challenge to tinker with upgraded OEM parts. I love making a base model a premium package with junk yard parts and eBay finds. I am not a poverty spec purist.

    I was like that

    I had a 1990 Honda Civic HF. 1.5L 67HP
    4 forward manual gears

    It had no tach
    No passenger side door mirror
    No rear wiper
    No ac
No center console around the shifter

I spent 15 months taking parts from a 1991 civic si hatch and making it a copy

Then three years later just sold it and bought a true Si

    These days I am old
    No energey
    Povery spec purist
    Out of necessity

Can you post a side shot and tire size ?

It seems the wheels you have came in rare DLX 01+ double cab poverty spec

Funny for the next two months my 17 PRO is outside getting beat on while my 01 povery spec is in garage with all the nice toys

Is the mechanical odometer set electronically by the ECU?

I know what you mean, my 16 TRD OR is sitting outside in the snow and rain, but the 98 got washed and waxed in September and is the garage for the winter.

I can't find a side shot of it and it's under a car cover so I won't be able to easily take a pic. It's running stock 225/75R-15. I got new tires for it 4-5 years ago and remember there weren't that many choices left in that size.

I thought that design is what I had in 15" But it seems like what @hr206 posted abvoe, is what I have. I didn't think those came on the 01+

Yes, they are OEM. They have 265/75/16 Falken Rocky Mountains on them. Great tires, but heavy (Rated E). They have lasted a long time, with mostly highway miles. Unfortunately, they are no longer made. I believe they have been replaced with the Wild Peaks.

My truck is pretty much stock, except for the suspension and tire size. Old Man Emu w/ Dakar leafs were put on a few years ago. Stock tires were Bridgestones 265/70/16s, if I remember correctly (bought it in Dec '00).

I will be needing new tires soon. I am pretty sure that I will stick with the 265/75/16 size, but have been keeping a couple of other sizes in mind. Just thinking ahead, as we are planning to take this out cross-country this summer, and we are not sure what adventures we will decide to go on as we travel.

This is the cluster I have in mine. I thought of changing out the orange lights to maybe red or blue, but I'm too damn lazy to pull it apart.

This is what my daughter's '04 has. Now her truck (Lucky kid. It was given to her from her grandpa.) is poverty spec'd: 2wd, 2.4L, reg cab, manual windows & door locks, no intermittent wipers. Her luxuries are: upgraded stereo, A/C, tinted windows, auto trans, and a steering wheel cover from WalMart. She's had this truck for 7 years now, and has no plans to ever give it up. She loves it.

There are some out there that say you can swap the bulbs just by pulling the radio trim. Seems crazy to me.... .

Anyway, I will keep the green bulb covers to match the rest of my dash. http://www.4wheelparts.com/Performa..._dUP13ojuUK98C7EWa5-vrWI5eydSVNtjtoaAuMr8P8HA . Even my aftermarket stereo has the same green color as everything else.

    Great

For me when I get new tires I think I will look at 235/85

Given I have been rolling on 225/70

I don't want to go ride

I prefer the light and nimble feel
