I don't know the details of your lease, but Toyota wouldn't let me sell mine private party. I could only trade it back or trade it to another dealer.

You could have just financed it then sold it.

To sell, you need to buy it first - then sell.

Yes definitely going to trade it in to a different dealer or private sell if I do get rid of it.

    ^^^^^

How many miles per year? I've been getting quotes all over the board for that type of setup. Lowest I've got is around $32,200 (MSRP $34800). I use the lease calculator (http://www.ridewithg.com/calculator/) and see the payment should be around $374 including tax, but of course the dealers quote much higher. MF I've been getting is around .00190 and RV 70%. looking for 15k miles per year.

To do this, one needs to fulfill or buy out the lease, and then pay cash or finance the residual, right? Sorry to show my ignorance, but I'm new at this.

    For the most part, yes.

There's a significant benefit of working with a dealer for this part... In that in many states you won't end up paying taxes on the amount THEY pay to buy the truck from the lease company, nor on the amount of equity that you apply towards your next purchase. They'll give you less upfront, but it still be a better deal overall than private party when you include the sales taxes and potential finance charges for getting a new loan.

If your going to not give it back, get the least miles per year. Your miles won't matter.

Lease Question: If you lift your truck and put bigger tires on, will the dealer say anything when you take it in for service? or does it even matter to them as long as u return it to stock by end of lease?

Did not do it, but could have had a 2017 Taco, Offroad accesscab, auto for $411 total down. $411 per month 36 months 36k miles with about $25600 residual.

$35569 msrp $34300 cap. I am retired just too much money.

If I put money down the payment was lower, but not the residual. Need to be covered thou if you put money down, because in case of a total you do not get the money back.
I was advised to put as little down as possible.

The service dept does not know or care if the vehicle is leased or financed. If you do plan on turning it in after lease is up, then yes, it must be returned back to stock

Most important figure is your residual.

Residuals for Toyota aren't negotiable, are they?

Apparently not. I was just curious what Toyota is calculating as residual.

At times, I figured I should have just leased my Taco instead of buying it outright.

Well... If you turn it in, sure. Or they'll try to charge you for returning it to stock (even though they likely won't... But will sell it in upgraded form).

However, you can also sell it back at lease end in the highly likely event that you have equity in the truck at that point in time. In this case, tasteful upgrades can increase your equity further (you won't get back full value, but it likely won't hurt you).

Not if you lease through Toyota Financial Services. If you lease through a third party, they could potentially be negotiated.

2017 DCSB 4x4 Auto TRD Sport is 72% for 36/12k
2017 DCSB 4x4 Auto TRD Off Road is 75% for 36/12k
2017 Auto TRD Pro is 70% for 36/12k

These were the TFS residuals I got a couple weeks ago from a dealer. Should be good through the end of the quarter.
