For real though, if you are this worried about recoveries don’t offroad. Especially in the snow… your frame isn’t made of paper mache. Relax.

While Toyota frames are made out of rusty metal with the thickness of tin foil, highly doubt it's bent.

    Unfortunately, they're everywhere.

They also drive Toyota's, but most times it's a Jeep.

That picture I posted on page 1, I yanked the person in the same manner/direction as you were yanked.

Used a snatch strap though not a tow strap; never use a tow strap as a snatch strap as that's dangerous.

Reason for getting stuck? Deep ruts and chaos caused by other Jeeps on 40s; they're the group with colored lights (left 3)

Been a while since anyone was eager to yank me.

    I just yank myself.

no i was with a friend who had a grand cherokee. he doesn't have any provisions on his rig for recovery though aside from his hitch. and he wasn't going to risk trying to turn around as the trail was made too narrow by the snow banks.

So the other question here is.... Was it a tow strap or a kinetic rope. If someone's plan was to start tugging my truck with a tow strap I would tell them to get fucked right at that moment. There is a big difference.

You know I wheel a lot. I also do a lot of recoveries locally. In my experience it's never a Jeep, Toyo, Chevy, Ford thing. It's an experience vs inexperience thing. I've yanked out guys in all sorts of builds and have had my ass saved by a guy with a ready welder in his Jeep. It's all good as long as the person performing the recovery has experience or the more experienced person directs the recovery. In this case it was a clear lack of communication that caused the recovering vehicle to snatch when neither the recovered vehicles driver nor the person directing the recovery where ready for it. IE, inexperience.

    100%

Just wanted to throw my jab at the Jeep guys

But yes, there are complete morons driving stupid capable vehicles and getting stuck where they shouldn't. Or in this case, not communicating well.

I play it as if I'm on a motorcycle; pretend you're invisible and make yourself as visible as possible.

Like others said, if it still drives straight down the road then no worries. Much has been mentioned about the snow and lack of traction. It sure was a bozo move on that guys part for sure! I think alignment was mentioned to see if it was out, (basically suspecting the frame may have moved or whatever). And yes these Toyota's are still robust. Always need to remember out of the thousands and thousands sold and wheeled....sure you hear a few cases of something bad...very low percentage.

Also even if the frame is bent…if it drives straight then who cares?
Id do a visual inspection myself and unless something looks way off I wouldnt worry.

Probably wrote the dudes plate down so he can try to press charges. Need the evidence that she's tweaked 1.00367 mm on the x axis bearing driver front...

Found myself in the same situation the other day. Pulled into a snow bank to let others pass and high centered. Only took a few minutes to shovel out and I was on my way.

Frame is likely perfectly fine. I'd only worry if it was visibly out of whack or didn't drive straight anymore.
