Not enough bandwidth on the internet to list.
The straps are harsh. The kinetic ropes are perfect for that occasion and create lots of energy but buffer the impact. OP, get yourself a 30' Kinetic rope in addition to the strap and be ready to use it.

Na na, not because you posted. But more like because you posted all these. That Arrhythmic engine knocking will get ya every time. It's not the asking questions that people are poking fun at... It's the constant, obsessive, catastrophizing.

i generally try to get some opinions from friends as well as the dealer(for that issue) and they both say it was an abnormal noise, but that one was very hard to track and only appeared in a certain temperature window. as for the engine block with water, i literally know someone who has cracked an aluminum block from from shock cooling by water, which is what i did when i got home that night is literally spray water up in there.

    edit: before i post here*

if you want to point and laugh then go ahead, i guess you've got me and im the idiot then. but also know you're well within your rights to move on to a different thread rather than to make fun of me and garner likes for it...

it's not really about that, it's more just pushing you in the direction of chilling out about every single small thing. The truck is not that fragile, spend more time enjoying it than worrying.

understandable, but its also worth noting that i dont really abuse my stuff off road, i am paying a copious amount of money for this thing and i bought it for the purpose of going places (mostly on trails) that would enable me to explore a little bit outdoors. but its quite infuriating to be turned away at the dealership when something goes awry with the truck because they accuse me of abusing it offroad on the basis that there is "dirt and dust in the engine bay" or that there "is mud in the wheel wells". otherwise what is the point of me having this vheicle. I dont go posting about or complaining to the dealer about pinstripes or the like or whether or not pinstripes could cause prostate cancer (which i assume you all would expect me to doom on about)

Hate to break it to you but that's pretty much what to expect from most dealerships. The trucks aren't sold to be off roaders, they're sold to drive on maintained roads to the store and back after dropping the kids off at school. Unless you severely overpaid for the truck then you paid pretty much spot on the average new car price for 2021 so no copious amounts of money need to be worried about. Just take the truck out and enjoy it, one easy pull from an angle won't damage anything other than your pride that you needed the pull in the first place.

Absolutely not. Measuring a frame is not a 500 dollar job not even close. It does involve a tape measure and also a tram bar and a few other tools but it’s not a big deal. We used to charge one hour at the shop rate to measure a frame. About 100 bucks. 500 is fucking nuts. Can’t imagine what they would charge to actually fix something.

So let's actually take some lessons from this and save this thread.

    - When your vehicle is being recovered, never forget it's "your" vehicle. I have caused some serious damage to vehicles being recovered from snow. One in particular I ripped off a bumper, plastic surround on an Chevy Avalanche with a snow plow once. I let him hook up and guessed he knew what he was doing. I just drug the bumper assembly about a 1/2 mile down the road, unhooked and left it there. I told him if I yanked any harder something was going to give (3/4 t Dodge, chains on all four tires). He even called me a pussy for taking it easy. Not going to lie, I was shocked when it happened.

    - You were not alone, but with someone even less capable than your Tacoma and a Jeep of all things. Use a winch if available. Like others have said, a kinetic rope is a great tool to have (or a winch) and practice some rigging before you actually need it.

    - Just because someone offers help, doesn't mean you should always take it. Having the right tools for the job is key. I have driven 12 hours to help a friend that was stuck. He needed 1) Someone he could trust 2) A rig that could get him out.

He had a few Tacomas try and help, but they just didn't have enough traction to get him out. Neither did I, and a lot of winch work was done that day.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/wildest-rescue-ever.71469/

Another local snow rescue that took a few days to get the right rigs out to recover. These rigs were stuck. One of the weirdest recoveries I have ever been on. Midnight snow bashing in the mountains.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/sos-help-stuck-in-snow-colorado-recovered.604309/

    - It was nice of you to move over for some more capable rigs, but do so when you have little chance of getting stuck. It was nice they offered to help, but they could have also just drove past you laughing their asses off. Take care of number one first.

Was this yank a couple weeks ago? And is your truck white?

Also the frame rack measure is 2 hours of body labor, frame labor is $100-$125hr. This is a measure only without set up.

If they use a tape measure or a tram gauge do not use that shop. You want a 3d measurement with a caroliner or equivalent.

My post is suddenly missing hahahaha and all I did was say his threads are hilarious and compare him to Tweak from South Park. Cause it’s true. He could take a different approach with his threads, but he doesn’t. And it’s comical.

I have nothing against OP, but my god man, relax. If you approach every situation in a state of panic, the responses will be reflective of that.
At some point where ever this guy takes his truck will take the ‘we reserve the right to refuse service’ approach and either ignore him or start making ridiculous service quotes to make him leave (or take said service and make bank).

There is a benefit to reflecting on the situation and then approaching it from a logical perspective. The sky isn’t always falling. I’d love to hear this from the Jeep guys perspective, cause OP only has himself to blame yet throws it onto everyone but himself. Like he was bullied into a recovery lol
