Did you ever get this issue figured out? I have the same issue with my 2013 Taco. It feels like a neutral drop on the tranny after a hard-ish stop. It did it at high speed for me too when I was passing a stop light. I hit my brakes and then realized I should just go through it, pressed on the throttle and it reved up and “clunck!” back into gear and away it went. The above responses about the shift solenoids seem like a likely answer.

I'm having the same issue and it seems like it's getting worse.

Lubing the slip splines took care of that " did someone hit me?' issue. At 60K they were pretty dry and did not move freely. I still get the A/C cycling surges.
