2010 front driver's side CV axle going into the diff has about a 1/8 to 1/4 inch of play up and down. Learned about the needle bearing issue and ECGS fix. Was about to order up the parts to replace but I'm having some second thoughts. My truck makes absolutely no noise or vibration. No clicking/popping in corners. No noises/vibration in 4H. No oil around the diff indicating a leaking seal. That much play makes absolutely no sense to me with no noise to go along with it. Passenger side has minimal play, barely perceptible but I can move it up and down. Do I need to address this? Thank you in advance

    The play is normal.

If you have a vibration that goes away in 4wd then its the needle bearing. If it doesn't, then you have another issue

If you're not experiencing any vibration noises from that, don't worry about it.
It's usually only an issue after a lift is installed, changing the angle of the CV joint. There are hundreds of thousands of Tacomas on the road and many never experience the problem.

Thanks for the replies. The play looks exactly like videos people have taken with bad needle bearings. The truck has stock suspension with slightly bigger than stock tires
