I'd go MT on the regular cab. It's better to do the gearing yourself than a computer. Just make sure to get everything checked by a mechanic if you can. Put on a lift and check to make sure the frame and all that are good. Takes a while to find them but they are out there.
Took me 3 months to find mine but I'm glad I waited. Everyone here in town shockingly wants to buy it.

I hear the argument for manual, but I've been rowing my Jeep for 10 years and look forward to an automatic in my next vehicle. Plus, I have to admit that I struggled a bit rock crawling with the MT. The AT is so much more forgiving.

I'd never go higher than l can afford. I'm happy not wanting the top trim levels. But, you're right. I see some of the window stickers and the average that I've seen is probably in the mid to high60s and go way up from there. Then plus taxes. I always look at the more base models for myself. I couldn't imagine a $1,000 + a month truck payment for 7 or 8 years

You think that’s long check out a proper double cab long wheel base. I’ve got a leer 5 ft topper on there just because I had nowhere to store it. The LWB sure rides better that’s not opinion, it’s fact. BTW that topper that doesn’t fit is for sale in the appropriate forum if anybody is interested.

Do you guys know what other Tacomas could use a topper from a regular cab one? I'd like to know what my market is if I buy a truck with a topper and want to unload it.

Well, I took a shot and went with the high mileage one. It's in my driveway now. I'll probably start another build thread for it shortly. Thanks for all the input.

Congrats, looks good, & don't worry about the 150K, that ain't much for a Taco. I've always got suggestions. I bought mine with a 3 fold hard cover on the bed, I'd never had one & thought I'd probably sell it. Now that I have it I love it, very easy to fold or remove when needed. Also for me bed liners & coatings are for after bed is messed up, makes them look good again. Why not get the enjoyment out of the nice looking bed first, then later, as needed, cover the dings & scratches. Probably not in AZ., but int. wipers were a must for me, less than $100 & 30 min. work. Please keep us updated

Do you have any links or write ups on your buck seats install? What seats are they?

They are Corbeau seats with their brackets https://corbeau.com/toyota-tacoma-2005-2015-seat-brackets/ I don't remember what actual seat model it is. I found a writeup somewhere on this forum, however if you don't have airbags in your seats, it will be an easy install. Just bolt the seat to the bracket, and bolt into the truck. The brackets use all of the same bolt holes as the bench seats, plus 2 more towards the center of the truck. All of the holes are there, you may just need to cut an opening in your carpet. Super easy install.
