Had the driver side rear wheel bearing replaced along with the axle seals. When I got the truck back it had dent marks on the outer edge of the axle hub. I removed the drum and jacked up the rear axle and turned the engine on and now I can see a slight wobble when the axle rotates on the driver side.

I get the feeling that when the mechanic inserted the axle shaft back into the axle housing he must have hammered it into place instead of fitting it into place. Should I be worried about the differential gears?

I'm now looking for a new rear driver side axle shaft and they are hard to find. I was wondering if any other axle shafts would fit my 2001 double cab Tacoma prerunner (no abs) w/ 4.10 gear ratio? Would a 2nd or 3rd gen 4Runner axle work? Or....?

It was a mobile mechanic who said "it was fine when I test drove it" so he's claiming no responsibility
