Appears you got the new powder coat guy around Jan 2015, so it appears I have the old powder coat product.

Let's see how it holds up. Not everything he did was bad, just some.

Do you have to remove the current trax system to install this?

To install the side rail caps, you do have to remove the tracks, but they go right back on.

Any chance you'll be making these with diamond plate material, then finish them in black?. I have a black diamond plate toolbox and it would match up nicely.. Thanks

So first off I really do appreciate the quality work you do. I hope this doesn't come across as too negative, I just wanted to point out my experience.

Installation: Extremely simple, I didn't look at any directions or anything here in this thread, it's a no-brainer.

Quality: Very heavy duty and durable. I feel like mine took some slight damage to the powdercoat before it was shipped though. There was padding on the end that was damaged so that leads me to believe it happened before it was even packed to be shipped. It's minor, and I'm going to find some touch up to cover it... but it's a little annoying that a rust-vector is already exposed the day I installed it. For those of you in the rust belt you understand how quickly this can lead to damage.

I noticed something kind of crazy too with the way my tailgate is shaped. I had read about a "gap" between cap and the tailgate in previous posts on here. I only noticed that on the right and left side. Is the tailgate naturally curved, or did mine already start to bow out? It's very had to capture in pictures, but i did the best I could. You can see it best in the last picture where the tailgate and cap-gap are large at the edge and shrink to making full contact in the middle... Is this normal, or is my tailgate already tweaked?

    Side (larger gap):

Since no one else has replied, it appears normal, as there is a natural bow on the tailgate with resulting end gaps.

A similar product actually "Laser Cuts The Curve For A Clean Look".

There is absolutely no way that I would ship something with powder coat damage like that.

You say the padding (bubble wrap) on the end was damaged? Sounds like it happened during shipping.

I examine every one before I wrap it up, and then I give it a quick wipe down with towel sprayed with WD40. I'd have noticed that and rejected it.

I take the statement to mean "There was padding on the damaged end so that leads me to believe it happened before it was even packed to be shipped".

The padding didn't appear to be damaged. Regardless, I'm not exactly worried about it, I it was just inconsistent with the great finish I've had on both the HD crossbars and the bed-side caps that I've ordered. Seriously though the product is great and I'm not disappointed. I'd like to touch it up though and am wondering what you've used that matches the powder coat closest. I'm thinking of just a flat black rattle can on a qtip for touch up. Really all I'm looking to do is seal it from moisture. Accidents happen, and either way I'm not bothered by it... I'm sure it won't be the last scratch I put on it...

I am also curious as the powder coat has been scratched in several spots on mine as well. Mine is only a couple weeks old, so maybe you should look into the current finish? Don't get me wrong this product (even if it were unfinished) is worth every penny! What should I touch up with or repaint the cap with? Rustoleum flat black spray?

For minor scratches, wipe it down with WD40 and they'll go away. The new powder coat is really durable.

Do you have any recommendation for a matching paint? I guess I'll find out if duplicolor flat black will do, but I'm wondering specifically if you've used anything in the past.
