I know a lot of you guys recently picked up Pelfreybilt and All Pro bumpers and sliders, so I was wondering what everyone did for powdercoating them? did you guys get them PC'd, then shipped, or did you PC them locally?

if you don't mind sharing, let me know what you had PC'd, where you got it done, and how much?

Sliders will have rocks bounce off them whether on or off-road....... Ask urself if u rlly wanna spend the money on powdercoating something under constant abuse.

I rattle canned and am more than happy.

As for the bumper, that shouldn't be u der attack.

Powdercoated the front bumper. It was more than wroth it. I agree with rattle canning the sliders, that's what I'll be doing when I get them.

I'm a huge fan of powder coating especially in our Hawaiian environment. I'm having my Pelfreybilts powder coated before shipping for one simple reason. It's cheaper! You can certainly do it here but if you're going to have to lug your bumper / sliders down to Kapolei, wait 10 days and then go back to pick it up. If you have a special request like matching say a silver or that pyrite metallic you'd need to do it here and the front bumper will cost you between $250-300. Sliders in a straight color should be about $200 or so for the set but call them for specifics. I recommend http://www.hawaiipowdercoat.com

guys, sorry to revive this thread, but I wanted to know something: for those of you who rattle-canned their sliders, how's the paint holding up on the top of the slider, where you'd step to go in/out? I've read that it starts wearing down pretty quick, requiring frequent touch-ups

I've been reading a lot about rattle-can vs. powder coat situation. to be very honest, I don't know how much "hardcore" wheeling (i.e. scraping sliders, or relying on sliders to get over obstacles) I'll be doing right now, especially without plate bumpers, but I figured sliders would be a good to have for those oh-shit moments where you might f-up your rocker panel. having said that, that probably means I won't be scraping my sliders all over everything every outing. I'm really stuck on this and given my terrible rattle-can abilities, I might PC... :(

Rattle can wears off quickly. For me, it only lasts a few months

rattle can holding up pretty well. for the high traffic part, i put the grip tape on the top. the underneath gets lots of cracks from rock chips and what not. bumpers - guarantee powder coat. well worth it, although mine is starting to fade very little. Skids and sliders, id rattle can again in a heartbeat.

I went to .... to have my slidders done. Skid's I would have rattle canned, but when I ordered them locally powder coating was included. A great surface to spray on if you want more than a black flat. So yes, I found out the price difference was because the skids came with a powder coating. I needed to do some small touch up on each skid. Still alot easier and consistent then my painting ability, and I saved time.

Jumping in Pelfreybilt GB and ordering sliders and skids, I'll texture/rattle can the sliders and rust oleum the skids but if I was doing bumpers I would totally powdercoat them.
